So Russert's a Coward Rat who squealed to the Grand Jury to save his ass!
Sources close to the investigation said they believe Russert was not held in contempt Aug. 6 because he agreed to answer the questions after Hogan's July 20 ruling.

and answered their questions well enough to not be held in contempt....

So yeah, he spilled the beans. MHOP

Russert but maybe he is outraged by the leak and wants the perps punished.

7. Doesn't sound all that good to me
Hogan wrote in his just-unsealed order that the information requested from Cooper and Russert is "very limited" and that "all available alternative means of obtaining the information have been exhausted." He added that "the testimony sought is expected to constitute direct evidence of innocence or guilt."

Are they gonna get away with this too?

10. That doesn't mean Fitzgerald is lacking evidence
I interpret it to mean he's just being thorough. Apparently he already got what he needed from Russert.

19. This could mean that the innocence or guilt of Scooter
needs to be determined. We have no idea what else has been covered about others.

As a born pessimist I think that this is bad news.

22. that phrase
"all available alternative means ...." is a standard line in this type of situation. It does not mean there is no other evidence. It implies that what the witness being called to testify is a source of significant information.

Also, the fact that Russert has taken this tactic does not mean that he is against testifying. As a journalist, he has some standards to try to uphold, in order that he will be privy to "off the record" information from other politicians/officials.

13. So, you think he should be covering up for Rove?
Or whoever else exposed Plame? Or is this just an ethical thing with you and journalists sources? As far as I'm concerned anything that might possibly lead to White House frog-marches is good.

18. you know, trumad, Tiny Tim Russert is the reason the Bills lose every time
the negative energy put off from Tim's potatoe head has been killing the Bills in the playoffs for decades now. of course, timmy is a BIG BIG BIG Bills fan, so i try and remind him that its all his fault whenever i email the lousy slob.

oh, and i like to point out that Big Russ would be ashamed of the sweaty whore his baby boy has become.

26. That would be GE's, Gargoyle; Russert holds a corporate position..
at GE/NBC -- very unusual, if not unprecedented, for an on-air "newsperson," and, I assume, worth mucho more bucks.

From his NBC bio:

Moderator, “Meet the Press”
Anchor, MSNBC
Anchor, CNBC's 'Tim Russert'
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT and Washington Bureau Chief, NBC News
