Was Saddam stepping down a condition of ending GW1?
I've Googled it in various forms, as well as browsed the UN resolutions from Spring '91, but can't find a definite answer in one document. I'm sure someone here knows it off the top of their head and possibly where I can find documentation. Is there a copy of the actual ceasefire traety out there somewhere? Got in a LOUD argument with my father in law over this point this morning.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

2. not at all. in fact, that why bush stopped the war
he didn't want to be seen as toppling saddam. he hoped that gw1 would weaken him sufficiently to the point where his internal enemies could topple him, thereby letting us say we didn't engineer it.

3. I know there were reasons for not going into Baghdad...

...and taking him out by force. But i was just wondering if the resolution Baghdad signed to stop the bleeding included a condition that he step down. I told my father in law there were no conditions that he leave. He was saying that was the reason for going to Iraq THIS time was because SH didn't step down in '91 "like he agreed to," NOT because of any of the various oil-for-food or no-fly zone violations (that would have been a more credible, though still not believable, argument on his part).

Can anybody point me to any official docs out there that I should print and send him?

Thanks for the replies thusfar...

4. they were talking going in and assassinating or taking over
and the world all said no cant do. and that was a big point with that war that bush was not going over the line to take down government. they did encourage shiites and kurds. the shiites lost a lot fo people cause we left them hanging and didnt help them
