Had my KERRY FOR PRESIDENT t-shirt on today with my John Kerry button and
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 06:29 PM by in_cog_ni_to
took my son to lunch at TGIF. We have lunch there every Thursday. Last Thursday I wore my "LIBERAL and PROUD OF IT!" t-shirt and a Kerry button. We had the same waitress last Thursday as we had today. WELL, she came to the table and said, "I saw your shirt and button last week and decided I needed to register to vote." (She looks to be 20 something?) She said she registered to vote YESTERDAY! I gave her a Kerry button and she pinned it on while working. :bounce: Then she looks at the Kerry button and says (this is saaaad) "Who is that new guy running for President now?" I told her it's John Kerry and she says...."Oh, that's right. Who's our president? (I KID YOU NOT!) I said "Bush" she says...."That's right. Everyone I talk to HATES HIM!" I agreed. She said she would be voting this year, after she asked me if she COULD vote, having just registered. :eyes: I told her she could and she said she would be voting for Kerry. :) One more down. :)

THEN, last week I was in Target with the same "Liberal and Proud of it" t-shirt and Kerry button and my checkout lady (an older woman)said, "I like your button." I say.."Thanks. Do you want one?" She was THRILLED and asked if I had an extra one for her boyfriend. I gave her 2 buttons and a bumpersticker. TODAY, I was in Target getting school supplies and she was my checkout lady again. She looks up and says.."Oh! You're the lady who gave me the buttons and bumpersticker!" She goes on..."You know what? Anyone who votes for Bush is absolutely nuts! We are losing so many jobs and my boyfriend is concerned about losing his job now. Our country is such a mess." I agreed and wished her a nice day.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE listening to people who hate the chimp as much as I do! The tide is turning. I just know it. I told my hubby that I am wearing a POLITICAL t-shirt and Kerry button every day until November. It makes people THINK. It wakes them up and reminds them that we DO have an election coming up.

11. Nah, Illinoisians Are Smart
It's a solid Kerry state.
52 - 37 percent in favor of Kerry according to most recent poll.

I'm an Illinoisian by birth. Texan by transplant. I'm working behind enemy lines, I wish to turn Texas blue once again!

4. I have buttons and bumper stickers all over my car
but I get the most response whenever I wear my John Kerry t-shirt, mostly positive thumbs up, "nice shirt", etc. If you're thinking of getting one I recommend the dark blue with white letters; it seems to grab people the most. I got mine on eBay, but noticed they are selling them at swap meets here - haven't seen anybody selling Bush stuff out in the open. ha

8. Loved your story. It made me think of something.
Because the right wing is so ideological they are heavily impacted by bumper stickers and T-shirts or any symbology. It's all part of the ideological life. The hate us and Kerry and they love Bush* and his puke-pals sooooooo much - they could spit. And they prbably do.

It's an advantage we have but we overlook - because we are not nearly as affected by pro-Bush symbols. I just think that the person in the car with the Bush* bumper sticker is probably not someone I'd enjoy very much - even if politics wasn't on the menu.

So, way to go in_cog_ni_to :toast:

12. johnkerry.com
you can get all manner of John Kerry stuff there...t-shirts, stickers, buttons, I think they even have a duffel bag or something there, not sure, but check it out.

Or talk to your local county Democratic Party chair. He/She oughta be able to fix you up.

I got my Kerry sticker for free from my Democratic Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
He's got a bunch of them in his office, free to all constituents on the stickers and buttons. the t-shirts can be bought...or free to volunteers.

As I have been a long-time Doggett volunteer, I had no trouble scoring a Kerry t-shirt!

13. Had a similar experience in TGIF over the weekend
Had my Kerry/Edwards shirt on - the greeter loved the shirt and since I was carrying the newspaper with both Kerry's and *'s pics from their visits the day before to my local area (Western PA) we talked for a few seconds.

I got the impression the young female greeter was politically aware and was going to be a Kerry voter! I got several compliments on the shirt that day.

14. That's awesome
I got three of my friends registration forms for here in OHIO and one of them is from Michigan and lives here and has for a while. While I was giving him and he was asking me what all he does(it's his first time and he is around 20) and another friend whom graduated with me and whom I have known for a very long time ask me for one too and says he needs to vote because the country is turning into a shit hole under everyones noses. And then another friend(had to make him feel bad and even go so far as to call him ignorant) got his today too and said he is going to vote and it is very probable that he will not be voting bush but libertarian because he is a republican. But a couple of guys I work with (liberals) are wearing him down and he is starting to see the light, lol.

19. from the mouth of a relative:
at family picnic this 30 year old guy (dumb as a door knob when it comes to politics--and about everything else too--never paid attention to anything in school) rushes over and asks if I saw F-9/11. This was after it's first day out. Said I was going to see it. He was afraid it was here only one day and he and his financee wanted to see it because they couldn't believe anyone could say all that stuff about Bush and "get away with it". I said, "well, it's the truth, you know". They replied "YES--we know" and then they asked who that "other guy" was that was running for President (a confirmation of how dumb this nation is). I told them and they again said "yes--and he's going to do stuff about health care, right"?? They told me about how much they got charged for having to go to an emergency room with just a bad flu, etc. because they didn't have insurance. So are excited to vote for Kerry (that is if they can remember his name until election day)!!!

21. Very very cool!... Today, while I was waiting for a meeting to start
The one guy there with me in the conference room and I started talking about his vacation. He said that he had wanted to go to Europe again this year but that last year he sensed such a hatred of Americans that he couldn't go again right now. I said "Yes. It's amazing how four short years could change everything and make the entire world hate us." He agreed and then I said "So, I assume you're voting for Kerry then?" To which he replied affirmatively. YES!!! I said that I had completely given up the societal premise that you shouldn't talk politics at work, and that I take every opportunity I can to talk about all the harm that has been done by Bush.
