New Mexico GOP to Keep Screening for Bush Events (are they nuts)
N.M. GOP to Keep Screening for Bush Events

By RICHARD BENKE, Associated Press Writer

RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Republicans in New Mexico say they will keep asking some people who want to attend Bush-Cheney campaign events to sign an endorsement pledge before receiving tickets.

"If we feel our event will get disrupted again, we will use the same method to make sure it's a positive event," Republican Party spokesman Yier Shi said Thursday, defining positive as "without interuption, without debate — just (without) disruption, period."

Shi said the GOP campaign plans to correct errors and omissions in the pledge: "I ... herby (sic) endorse George W. Bush for reelection of the United States." Besides correcting the spelling of hereby, it will make clear what office Bush is running for, Shi said.

the pledge: "I ... herby (sic) endorse George W. Bush for reelection of the United States."

Who is this "herby" fellow and where can we find him to give the REAL facts about Bush* ?

4. If an event is not open to the public, then the event holder
needs to pay the city for using its facilities for a private event. New Mexico cities just got a new way to get additional revenues.

6. They're digging their own grave....
I'm in NM and everyone I know is PISSED about this. They're turning off so many people and Kerry already has the considerable lead here. Idiots.

A bunch of letters to the editor here: http://www.abqjournal.com/opinion/letters/205997opinion08-04-04.htm

I like this one:

" I WENT TO the Rio Rancho Mid-High School Saturday to see for myself the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate. I stood in the dog run they had built for us undesirable, unpledged Americans.
If it's OK for this administration to ask our military to serve and perhaps be killed in Iraq, couldn't Dick Cheney bear the burden of hearing a few dissenting questions or comments? Could it be that his party is afraid he will not be able to control his language if put in a situation where everyone doesn't agree with him?"

7. Does it really matter?
If I was intending to be a disruptor at a * Rally I wouldn't have any problems signing a pledge if it allowed me to accomplish my goal.

Any lawyers in the house?

8. Wouldn't it just be simpler to bus in people than messing with tickets?
Hell, just have him speak to an empty room and splice in footage of cheering crowds. Your tax dollars at work kiddies...making sure Democracy is safe from democracy. Er...or something like that.
