...notice anything about the cities in the Top Ten? Maybe in as far as their general reputation for falling on one side of the political spectrum?

1. I though Cincinatti was conservative
But all the others are rather liberal.

2. Of the bottom ten, half of them are in Texas
No offense to Texans. Just making a note of that.

4. However this does not take into account
the number of new immigrants and resident aliens. I live in New York and I would say their are a very high number of people here who are extremely literate, however they are offset by the number of people for whom English is not their primary language.

5. Hmmm...
Newark, New Jersey beats:

Dallas
Houston
Chicago
San Jose
Los Angeles

Who knew? Must be all those literary types too poor in live in the Village.

6. Progressive...That's what they are.
The fundies have been beating on the word: liberal for more than 15 years. But another word for our positions is progressive. Minneapolis, Boston, San Francisco, and other liberal cities are progressive. They spend money on the intangibles like libraries, parks, good roads, schools and recreation. They try to bring everyone along.

Many of the corporations in these cities are progressive also. In the Twin Cities I can name General Mills/Pillsbury, Wells Fargo, Target, 3M, and many other corporations that participate in the community.

This is what the right wing is trying to stifle.

Personally, I'm proud to be progressive (liberal).
