3. Wikipedia entry
In 1978, Bush ran for the U.S. House of Representatives but lost to State Sen. Kent Hance, a Democrat.

Bush began his career in the oil industry in 1979 when he established Arbusto Energy, an oil and gas exploration company he formed in 1977 with leftover funds from his education trust fund. ("Arbusto" is Spanish for "bush".) The oil crisis of 1979 hurt Arbusto and, after a name change to Bush Exploration Co., Bush sold the company in 1984 to Spectrum 7, another Texas oil and gas exploration firm. Under the terms of the sale, Bush became CEO of Spectrum 7. History was repeated as the oil crisis of 1985-1986 bankrupted Spectrum 7. Spectrum 7 was subsequently saved by a buyout from Harken Energy Corp in 1986 with Bush becoming a director of Harken.

4. I believe those were the heavy cocaine smuggling days.....
Wasn't that around the time he and Jeb got caught in Florida in some DEA Agent/Narco smuggler's airplane with a load of coke?

Nothing happened to them because they are Bush brothers, and the Bush Crime Family cannot be held responsible for any laws they might break.

Course, I wasn't there or anything, but that's the story that I heard.

10. I Had Heard That Was In The 80's...
...under the guise of Arbusto. It was a company plane with either Jebbie and Bunnypants or both that was brought down by a DEA plane in Florida. Some say Ollie North was also involved in this mess situation as well and it operated with the cooperation of Castro. Talk about strange bed fellows.

I wish there was a solid source on this topic as all I've ever seen were articles based on second-hand info and interviews or urban legend material.

9. Seriously, he'd be a shoe salesman if not for his name
Not that there is anything wrong with selling shoes. But, it is quite a leap to President. Look at his past: AWOL, drug and alcohol problems, a string of miserable business failures. Then when his father was Vice-President a series of white knights and 'opportunities' that saved him from ruin even though he'd already had a big head start. The buyout of a worthless company. The half million dollar loan to virtual bankrupt. The arranged buy-in with the Rangers that netted 19.5 million and made Hillary's cattle future profits look like a good day at the lemonade stand.
My Freeper in-laws have a name for the kind of person you asked about during that period. They call it "bum".
