Bush not AWOL - actually in the CIA?
Incredible claim by Jason Gay in this month's GQ magazine. Bush was secretly recruited into the CIA during his ANG years.

He also says in 1972 Bush went undercover as a roadie for the Rolling Stones to investigate the band's "un-American activities".

2. If so, the CIA would have done a much more masterful job
of concocting an alibi for *'s missing time. Complete with documented "evidence."

4. I believe
he did spend some time after his ANG years working for an airline that was commonly thought to be a CIA operation

"Bush never did report to the Alabama Air National Guard. He may not even know where its barracks were. That's because during the period in question, Bush was serving his country elsewhere, in a clandestine military unit: the Special Undercover Missions Service (SUMS), an elite air-force agency specializing in national security and acts of espionage."

Now I've heard everything. When did he do his training for this elite force? Since he was only missing for a few months, he went through the elite training and spent time in Vietnam and Cambodia as a member of an elite special forces unit all in that short amount of time? Give me a break--this guy can't even ride a Segway.

edit: LOL, and yes, I took this seriously for a moment. Now that I've read the entire artcile, I take it back. I have DU syndrome today.

9. That whole article is a whole tongue-in-cheek spoof
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 10:00 AM by wishlist
however there is a tiny grain of truth since there is some speculation that he may have been in Alaska and South America briefly facilitating some kind of underhanded deal involving CIA.

This particular article is a total spoof with faked pictures using a Bush look- alike. Just for making fun of him, but wait and see if RW freepers don't try to make him out to have been a James Bond-style hero when he was AWOL.

I mean really. They give him credit for ending the Vietnam War in that article, too.

It's a Joke, son. Don't you get it?

11. AWOL Excuse "Plan B"...
"Plan A" has been for Daddy to pay for the 'Honorable Discharge' and to provide some backup of the Alabama story.

"Plan B" is for Daddy to provide the CIA excuse.

The Secret History of George W Bush and the Alabama National Guard

"It was really quite amazing. Here was this young guy making acquisitions of tropical plants and then up and leaving to fly fighter planes."

February 25-- Venice, Florida.
by Daniel Hopsicker

A MadCowMorningNews investigation into the controversy currently swirling around President George W. Bush’s service in the National Guard has uncovered evidence indicating that Bush’s disputed “lost year” is not the only period of time during his abbreviated stint in the Guard that remains shrouded in mystery.

Conventional wisdom about Bush is that he spent the more poorly-documented stretches of his Guard service somewhere with his cowboy boots up on a desk, pulling the tab on another ‘tall cold one.’ The questions being asked are on the order of: Did daddy pull strings to get him a cozy billet? Did he actually show up for duty?

But conventional wisdom has a way of often being wrong. Evidence unearthed in our investigation indicates that George W. Bush, while supposedly serving in the Texas Guard in 1971, may instead have been detailed to the massive covert operation of the U.S. government going on at that very moment in Central America.

Did George W. Bush take part in Operation Condor?

12. The CIA wouldn't rely on an alcoholic like Bush. Also....
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 10:07 AM by blm
if he HAD been in the CIA they would have covered his absence from the National Guard a LOT better.

Sounds to me more like they intend to create a diversion that makes Bush sound more mythical.

The part about the underpants and the Rolling Stones didn't tip you off???? :)

***Edited to add my favorite part:

"Bush took on the persona of Gerhard Braus, a sturdy, pipe-smoking German art dealer specializing in Expressionist painters. -- snip --

Warhol immediately took a shine to Braus, inviting him to nightspots like Max's Kansas City and the Diplomat. He met Factory upstarts like Lou Reed, Holly Woodlawn, and the filmmaker Paul Morrissey. (Bush actually appears, ever so briefly, as a libidinous heroin-addicted pizza-delivery guy in Warhol and Morrissey's film Heat, in a scene that was added at the last minute.)"

That is tooooooooooooo fucking hilarious.

19. That was already done...
I was browsing FreeperVille earlier today, and saw an "apology" post from some poor schmuck who thought the article was real, and posted a link to it. Apparently, the Regulars ate him for lunch!

Damn, now I can't find it again, or I'd post the link!
