If the Media Sets the "Bar" Low for Bush in the Debates..............
The Kerry Campaign/DNC need to either do a pre-emptive strike or, minimum, come out blazing once the media tries to set the bar low for Bush in the debates using the excuse that poor Bush is going against a "brainy person good at debates". The message needs to be that it was cute and okay to portray Bush as a country bumpkin who can't speak the high and mighty language in 2000, BUT that after 4 years in office, "being dumb" is no longer acceptable. Further they need to stress that after 9/11, "dumb" is absolutely not only acceptable but not to be tolerated!!! I'm very serious about this. They can't let the media put this idea in the people's minds and then declare Bush the winner like they did in 2000. We need through talking heads and Kerry himself to plant in the public's mind that the American people should not have to live under an idiot for four more years----they should not accept "average" and below when their safety and the GI's safety depends on someone having the intelligence to govern. They need to insist that this time Bush either acts and speaks like an intelligent adult, or be removed from office. They need to NOT let the media get by with this again. They seriously have to stop this or the media will repeat 2000.

1. If? I am certain they will. They haven't changed since 2000.
They ignore his ignorance and stupidity.

2. IF? You know they will!
They'll paint it in colors of if Bush manages not to blow his top or fall off the stool he "won".

3. and that's why I posted this............we have to get out in front of
this. We cannot wait. We cannot cry after the first one when they declare Bush the "winner". DNC talking heads and Kerry as the debates near need to TELL the public that "stupid" no longer is a virtue---it's not cute; it kills people and that it's time the 58 year old Bush speaks and acts like an adult. If they don't start saying such things, the media will have their "way" and they will screw Kerry right into the ground.

11. I don't think they can.
9-11 made the post of president much more important in most Americans minds.

I've long thought that the debates this time will be disastrous for Bush. Even before Kerry earned the nomination Bush was in trouble debate-wise.

This is why the real danger of a pre-election terror attack is not the threat of cancelled elections (Constitutionally impossible) but is instead the threat of having the debates cancelled.

4. This guy's commander in chief now and the bar should be high.
The president should be able to string together a coherent sentence as well as articulate, in detail, his policies. MKJ

10. They'll lay the bar on the ground for Bush
and IF he doesn't make a complete fool out of himself, they will say "he did pretty good". Utterly frustrating. I hate the rules that they have for the debates; they should just let them go at each other, without any violence of course.

8. And knowing the media they will probably slip the questions
to Shrub in advance as well as affixing his earpiece. Some debate that will be.

7. when they dumb bush down, kerry needs to say courageously
in trust it will work..........if you have to set the bar so low for bush, has he really earned your vote

afterall all one of the ingredients to bringing the other countries to our aid is sitting down and talking with them. and if bush is so dumb in talk to other leaders, maybe that is a clue as to why..........they would not come to our aide for anything in the world
