George W. Bush's Health and C-Span Last Night
I do not know if it was a coincidence or not but within minutes of the end of John Kerry's speech last night, as broadcast on C-Span 1 the replayed George Bush's acceptance speech from the 2000 Republican Convention on C-Span 2. They have been playing speeches from conventions past for the last couple of days.

It was interesting being able to compare the speaking styles of both men, one after another. I doubt that many people saw it but it was worth watching. Here are the two things that jumped out at me when I watched all if it I could stand (about 5 minutes). The first was what a very poor speaker Bush is. How anyone could listen to that idiot and then vote for him is utterly beyond me. The second is more important. I was shocked by how much worse he looks today than he did 4 years ago.

I know the Presidency takes a lot of life out of a man, look at a before and after of Lyndon Johnson or Jimmy Carter if you don't believe me. However what I saw last night with Bush was absolutely shocking. The man has gone down hill badly. See if you can find a picture of him from 4 years ago and put it next to a current one if you want to see what I mean.

1. Kerry ran up the steps last night and he and Edwards bound down steps
getting off airplanes. I loved how Kerry raced up the steps last night to reach the podium. He and Edwards seem so fit and nimble and coordinated compared to Bush who tends to carefully hold onto the railing when he gets off planes and does not look well physically.

No question Bush looks awful compared to 4 years ago. I have pointed this out for a couple of months to several people who have told me later that they are noticing it too now.

2. I caught that too...
but I could only stand a few seconds of it. And yes, he looks much worse now than he did then. Several orders of magnitude worse.
