Who our are future stars?
Who are the future stars of the Democratic Party on a national basis? Men & women in their 30s and early 40s who will impact us for the next 2 decades. (Edwards looks young, but is 51)

Obviously, Barack Obama is #1 with a bullet.

Who else out there will we be hearing from over the next decade?

12. Let's get him elected first
I agree, Obama has HUGE potential, as I don't think he'll scare off those white Middle America voters that admired Michael Jordan in the past & Tiger Woods currently, but might not have liked Jesse Jackson in the past or Al Sharpton currently.

That said, he still has to win the Senate race. I know, it's almost a foregone conclusion, but to paraphrase baseball great Yogi Berra, you can sum it up in one word, "you never know."

Other potential rising stars like Harold Ford & Eliot Spitzer already hold major offices - Congressman & NY Attorney General.

7. I am almost embarrassed for saying this
But if Ben Affleck hadn't spent the last five years making a complete ass of himself with J-Lo and rehab and truly stupid movies, he could be turned into our version of Schwartzeneger. He actually seems to grasp policy as well as politics, unlike a lot of celebrities who just champion slogans.

At one point, I liked Affleck as an actor. He needs to do a lot of work to rebuild his image. But there is actually some substance there.

8. The young Kerry women
I was so impressed with Kerry's daughters last night and figure, if they want to pursue it, either one of them could have a career in politics.

10. Don't forget
those who might be washed in or inspired by Kerry's coattails. Great state hopes for young Samara Barend(NY, 29th District) who has a big battle to win our gerrymandered district.

When the stars come out you will be dazzled as never before, but it will be just the beginning if more are drawn to political service.

11. I live in West Tennessee and Harold Ford Jr.
is our rising star. He has fought hard for Kerry, and hopefully after we take back the house he will have a leadership role.

the Green Party because I think he is a progressive who will get things done. He really was impressive during the mayoral election and I think that San Francisco and/or California can look to see more of him in the future.

As far as Dems go, I still have my hopes for a President Cynthia McKinney one day. :D
