Is this the BEST night in a long time, or WHAT?????
just think back

over FOUR years of media BULLSHIT, lies, obfuscation, propaganda, stolen election, perfidy, secrecy, uncontstitutionality, war crimes, inCOMpetence, spineless lack of resistance from our OWN party, hopes dashed upon the rocks of media complicity, countless thousands of deaths, both here and abroad.....

is this an island of hope in a sea of despair, or a PENINSULA being filled in, to the mainland of restored democracy for which so many here have worked so hard

I salute the DUers here who have strived so hard to make this first real step toward getting rid of the interlopers who have STOLEN our house--degraded it for over three years

I feel GOOD for the first time in a long time!

I can only hope that Kerry's fine speech has lit a fire under those who haven't been paying attention, and they start taking an interest in what's going on.

our so-called President can only suffer in comparison

I'm POSITIVE about that

1. The pundits are blowing up their life rafts... manually..
they never thought they'd see the day.

That day has just hit them square between the eyes.

3. amazing difference for how they just went AFTER Gore
last time

they were much easier on Kerry tonight, yes?

they predicted a five point bounce

unless we're all completely out of it here, if this is any kind of indication, it should be more than that

I, for one, DREADED this speech, having been less than a fan of even his VOICE, much less his speaking ability

very impressed, for the most part, though he does need to learn to milk those applause lines

And if he'd gone over, then we'd be hearing about that. He knows how to let the applause go when he isn't under a time crunch.

21. they said on MSGOP, in answer to that, they'd have gone on
as long as it took to get Kerry's speech in.

Brokejaw said that, at 10:20 CDT, they'd STILL be on if Kerry was in midst of talking

still, just the IDEA that they only give ONE hour on nomination night is an abomination

something HAS to be done for their abuse of OUR public airwaves

heard somebody say today that they make two or three BILLION bucks off advertisements during pres campaigns

that really really eats

2. Yes! I loved Kerry's speech
and quite frankly I was afraid he wouldn't pull it off. But he did, in spades! And even MSNBC was giving him credit. Pat Buchanan was ready to vote for him(and didn't say he wouldn't). Of course they had small criticisms but all I heard said he knocked it out of the park. I feel hopeful. The entire convention was excellent. United democrats, on message, taking back the country. Good will triumph over evil....Ahhhhhhh

4. thank you! yep.....even Joe-lori Scarborough
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 11:46 PM by buycitgo
could only find fault, basically, with his delivery, saying he rushed through it

that said, he sorta BLAMED it on the networks' cutting down the time alotted to only one hour

I wonder what's going through his mind, besides Lori's desk, sts

he said the other night, as was discussed here, that he could sleep tight with Kerry in the WH

that HAD to piss off Rove to no end

has he backtracked on that yet?

in those TT forums (I wasn't a subscriber), but I remember how depressing those nights were through the recount, and after the SC decision...through the primaries, where at certain points it seemed that NO ONE could beat Bush.

http://www.ifilm.com/viralvideo?ifilmid=960813

first video, set to James Brown!

then, go to playlist, and click Political

when that opens go to any Bush-related clip, except the War on Terror thing, or Kerry flipflops

there are TWO that are great: edited versions of his speeches that say what the REAL pug agenda is

this is a very entertaining site, politics or not

I've had that anger for years. I want to see it in my candidate.

Kerry feels like I do. He's not out to bilk the taxbase. He truly wants to reverse the destruction Bush has wreaked on this country.

I swear I feel like the weight of the world has been take off of my shoulders. I feel like Kerry picked it up and said he'd put the weight on his for me.

He showed me he was ready to fight for us and that he deserves my unwavering support. I am still teary sitting here actually daring to have hope again. It's been a long time since I have.

I am absolutely sure that we will win and I am going to work my ass off to make sure we do.

However, I will forever be grateful to Kerry for giving me true hope again.

The day that Monica Lewinsky's name was leaked is the day I started fighting the wingnuts. I've been fighting them every day since then. I've monitored freerepublic.com every freaking day since then.

Steph and BCG, this is a glorious night. I hope our relief isn't short lived. I hope Kerry causes a split in the GOP -- a split deep enough to cause repudiation of all things neocon and wingnut. It's almost a decade now that too many of us have been fighting these anti-democratic thugs.

Tonight, we prevail.

27. love your username, ha!
I certainly hope you're right about the media.

I really am surprised by the difference between the way they treated Kerry's speech tonight, and the way they just NAILED Gore's.

perhaps they learned their lesson from that moment in 2000, when the public response to Gore's excellent speech put the LIE to their aholish reaction

perhaps they DO see the tide turning, and, cowardly bovines that they are, they may follow the herd gathering behind the Kerry dreadnought

howzat for mixing metaphors

speaking of which, time to mix a tanqueray and tab!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

My favorite Lines:

"We have it in our power to change the world, but only if we're true to our ideals. And that starts by telling the truth to the American people." :bounce:

"I will be a commander in chief who will never mislead us into war."
:bounce:

"I will have a vice president who will not conduct secret meetings with polluters to rewrite our environmental laws."
:bounce:

"I will have a secretary of defense who will listen to the best advice of the military leaders. And I will appoint an attorney general who will uphold the Constitution of the United States." :bounce:

"Our band of brothers doesn't march together because of who we are as veterans, but because of what we learned as soldiers." :bounce:

" Now, I know there that are those who criticize me for seeing complexities -- and I do -- because some issues just aren't all that simple. Saying there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq doesn't make it so. Saying we can fight a war on the cheap doesn't make it so. And proclaiming "Mission accomplished" certainly doesn't make it so." :bounce:

"As president, I will wage this war with the lessons I learned in war. Before you go to battle, you have to be able to look a parent in the eye and truthfully say, "I tried everything possible to avoid sending your son or daughter into harm's way, but we had no choice we had to protect the American people, fundamental American values against a threat that was real and imminent." :bounce:

I could go on and on...its so wonderful to finally have a real leader....

Sorry Swamp'r...I just can't stop bouncing :bounce: :bounce:

This is fantastic! Within our grasp is a campaign that--baring something profoundly unforseen--may lead to a victory we haven't seen the likes of since FDR's.

I now believe we CAN take back the Congress this year.

We have BRAINS (almost) back in America's driver's seat again!
