LOL!!! "Dukakis in the Tank" Comparison Backfires!!

Yep. Just saw it on Dan Rather's CBS News. The GOP floated out the "Kerry in protective outfit = Dukakis in the Tank" meme, showing both photos. The Kerry campaign responded with * on the Aircraft Carrier in those big goggles, showing a thumbs up while playing Tom Cruise.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!! All this did was give the Kerry campaign the opportunity to bring up the Bush "Top Gun" stunt, which only serves to remind the public that the mission was "not accomplished."

Of all of the photos that the Kerry campaign could have chosen to use to respond, this one has the most teeth.

According to the Daily News, the Kerry camp did retalliate "when asked to respond," with photos of Bush in "a ceremonial kimono, cheerleading at Yale and picking his nose years ago at a baseball game."

The article also quotes a "Kerry official" as saying "The only candidate who plays dress-up is George W. Bush. He is the one who put on a flight suit, landed on an aircraft carrier and said 'mission accomplished.'" But there's no mention of the Kerry camp submitting any relevant visuals. Maybe they were worried it would like they were making fun of the soliders. But I'm glad they changed their minds--the gloves are off now because the Bush camp actually went there!
