Ok for all of you who may have confused about UN target in Iraq....
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 11:14 PM by sistersofmercy
Vieiro de Mello was a request to UN by Colin Powell back in may of this year. So that along with the world bank meeting in the same building belies the mystery to why it was a target. Why was it considered a soft target well you'll just have to speak with your representatives on that one. Here's a link to the revelation about de Mello and Powell. You'll have to pan down about a little over half way to "HOWEVER" anyway interesting commentary in general soak it up! oops1 http://home.tampabay.rr.com/gregnews/mayrants051603_053103.htm sorry about that! hope I got it right!

3. IT'S MORE CUT & DRIED
Revenge for UN sanctions. Nevermind who proposed them or enforced them, they were UN sanctions.

Revenge for years of inspections that were humiliating to the populace.

Revenge for a perceived (right or wrong) subordination of the UN to US wishes (see sanctions....inspections.......first war)

You don't need to dig like that.

6. also maybe because it was an easy, big target
I'd think most of the big US targets are well-protected, while it doesn't sound like Chimpy bothered to protect the UN.

So whoever did it gets a big bang, makes the US look really bad, and it's relatively simple to pull off.

9. Actually, the UN didn't want US military around them
For obvious reasons.

Regarding what you said: "It doesn't sound like" Bush bothered to protect the UN, where did you hear that?

Let's not negate all of the legitimate complaints about Bush by making false ones.

11. Rely on you conspiracy theory if you must I'm merely trying to get...
the truth out! The world's a big place, big stage, US has their agenda almost everywhere! Especially where oils invovled! Check out Chauvez the masssive strike, yeah that's right Bush Co had meetings with the elite Venezualans. I know de Mello came from chile oh yeah it's so far away!

20. He was from Brazil
If you are trying to get the truth out, you might want to make sure that you at least get your facts right.

7. Sorry about lack of link my oops, it's my nature to dig to the truth!
I'm sure he was a nice guy and all but just merely stating why he may have been a target. I don't like this mess at all in fact I think Bush Co are actively seeking accomplices, it's a shame!

10. I think you've replied to the wrong person..
You're post makes no sense in the context of what I said to you.

My point was that it's pretty obvious why Iraqi resistance would attack the UN...regardless of this one particular person who was killed.

Who's to say if he was targetted or not. 20 people were killed, not just him. And they had to park under SOMEONES office!

Are you saying that World Bank had an office in the same building, or that World Bank had a meeting in the same building on the day of the bombing?
