Will Pitt - updates every 5 min. from Veterans for Kerry event
"General Wes Clark coming to the stage, and the applause is shaking the walls. He has become an incredible public speaker. He invokes Kerry's name and the place goes wild."

"This flag," says Clark while pointing to a huge American flag behind him, "is our flag. No John Ashcroft or Don Rumsfeld or George Bush is going to take it away from us."

Clark outlining 'the Mission': to convince friends and family and everyone else that a change at the top is absolutely necessary. "This is about changing the leadership of this great country."

Monday 25 July 2004
1:10PM

Generals and Admirals from all the armed services are being brought to the stage in a phalanx. The GOP is going to have to work hard to out-brass the Democrats.

We are all Kerry's Band of Brothers," says Clark. Eruption of applause. Talking about having seen the results of war, the deaths, the pain, and said "We must use force only only only as a last resort."

10. Max Cleland...
And they rise for Cleland, and they roar and stomp and clap as Cleland is wheeled to the stage. They won't stop.

Carville describing how Cleland was compared to Osama and Saddam by the GOP, a man who gave so much in his service. "Are we going to do something about this?" Carville asked the crowd. Roar. "We love you, Max!" From the crowd. Roar.

"In this campaign," says Carville, "we're gonna remember Max."

Roar.

"We're not going to hell with Kerry," says Cleland. "We've been to hell. We're going to the White House."

Roar, roar, roar, thunder and roar.

reading this report.

" A crewmate of Kerry just said, "If John came to us today and said we had one more swift boat mission, and we were going to hell, John would have a full crew." "

There are no words.

21.  Yea for the General!!!

Yea for Max and yea for Carville!

How I wish that James C. would be a STRONG VOICE for us on CNN.
IMO he wimps out when he gets on TV.
IMO he is one of the big reasons that Clinton won. He was an absolute attack dog and that is what we need now.

22. Are you?
a Vietnam Vet groupie? I am .... Thank you for your reporting on these wonderful guys. Have you read "Tour of Duty?" I was 14 years old when Kerry was in Nam and after reading the book all the memories of that time that I had supressed for years came bubbling to the surface I had sort of a meltdown and cried and mourned for the VN vets for a week. I realized that those who were in combat and came home alive were ghosts. The right's continuous defamation of Kerry's war record and heroism in the line of fire is traitorous and I just don't understand why ANY VN vet would join the chorus. If you look at the official records and reports in the military records section of Kerry's site, it's shown as fact that the three months that he was stationed at An Thoi were the most dangerous three months for the mission of the entire war! http://www.johnkerry.com/pdf/jkmilservice/Command_History_Statistics.pdf

A crewmate of Kerry just said, “If John came to us today and said we had one more swift boat mission, and we were going to hell, John would have a full crew.”

Comes now Max Cleland in his wheelchair and with only one good arm remaining to him.

28. Interesting that the media won't broadcast this event.
Just like they wouldn't broadcast the Firefighters endorsing Kerry during the primaries. They do not want the public to compare Kerry and Bush man to man.

dumping on Dems instead of the Dem nominee at an important convention event tied to his theme of a Stronger America.

Nothing from CNN. Nothing from MSNBC.
