Why does Blitzer get away with saying Al-Q disrupted the Spanish election?
I seem to recall it went smoothly, without a cancellation or rescheduling. I seem to recall the people were allowed to express their great love for Aznar by shoving him out the back door.

Is this going to be the talking points for 2005 on up? If Kerry wins despite an attack, Al-Qaeda "disrupted" the elections?

6. RW talking point....
the Spanish election is exactly why they're talking about the "massive al-Qaeda attack in order to influence our electoral process" lately...totally bogus, our mass media are a bunch of whores after all, but they choose to run with it in order to run up the fear factor! This is after all what they live for, do you think for one moment these shits care about the good of our country over their comfortable spin zone?

8. Why Aznar lost...
He was caught lying about the attacks before the vote. His government immediately tried to pin the 3/11/04 attacks on ETA. Millions of Spaniards marched the next day, many of them specifically against ETA. But this myth-in-the-making disintegrated within about 36 hours - there was no ETA connection, the attacks were attributed to Islamist extremists - which stirred a great rage in the electorate. So he got bounced. And he promptly went on a U.S. tour to promote the lie that the Spanish voters are a bunch of wimps who wilted when Qaeda blew up some trains in Madrid. Meeting his good friend Bush on the way. And when the Socialists pulled out of Iraq, exactly as they had promised in the campaign, this was spun in the U.S. media as caving in to the terrorists. Never mind that 90 percent plus of Spaniards had opposed their country's involvement in the invasion in the first place. How dare they get their way!

10. Blitzkrieger was a war monger from day one
and can't bring himself to point out that the Spanish people were among the most strongly anti-war in Europe, with or without the terrorism.

11. Exactly right
And the Rethugs had the nerve to say the "terrorists won" when the war mongerer lost.

I think DEMOCRACY won.... not to mention common sense.
