Help me with my essay on youth voting!

I am writing an essay on why the young should vote but I am at a writer's block. I went into statistics but I need real reasons why our youth need to vote.

Any suugestions would be appreciated. Thanks

1. You know what would be a cool introduction?

A cool introduction would talk about the American Idol Phenomenon--all the votes that were cast for that and then the controversy with the one girl who lost to the red head.

I know you can find some stats for that on the web.

Whether kids hate or love American Idol, you can idenitfy with the phenomenon.

Another thing you can add is a cultural history of the vote--maybe the story about Susan B. going to court trying to vote or an anecdote about African Americans voting.

Youth ought to give a damn about the future (and thus, by extension, bother to inform themselves on the issues and take the time to vote), since they'll be spending the rest of their lives there.
