We should have one thread giving Dean
some serious props. Out of all the democrats I can think of, Dean has had Kerry's back more than anyone else I can think of since the primary season. I was a Kerry supporter all along, but I really appreciate and admire his support. He'd be perfect as the head of the DNC.

1. You have to give him credit--he's really serious about making a difference
If any DUer doesn't belong to DFA, head on over and jine up--it won't bite. :D

2. I'll go along with that.
The good Doctor, in his OUTSTANDING performance against ralphie in their debate, should be praised for sticking to principles here.

4. I heard the debate. The guy just repeatedly amazes me.
I'm so proud of him. He even manages to stick to his principles WHILE supporting Kerry.

I've heard people say before that America doesn't deserve Dean...when I heard him rail against Nader tonight like he did, that was the first thing that popped into my mind. This guy is just too good for us.

Dean appeals to Nader to end bid
By JENNIFER C. KERR, Associated Press
Last Updated 4:54 pm PDT Friday, July 9, 2004
snips~
WASHINGTON (AP) - Howard Dean argued, flattered, cajoled - all to no avail. In a lively radio debate Friday, the former Democratic presidential candidate tried to get Ralph Nader to abandon his long-shot White House bid. Nader, the man Democrats blame for George W. Bush's election in 2000, declined and vowed to continue his independent campaign.

"Ralph, I think you're being disingenuous about your candidacy this year, and let me tell you why," Dean began at start of the debate. "Forty-six percent of all your signatures to get you on the Arizona ballot turned out to be Republican supporters. You accepted the support of a right-wing fanatic Republican group that's anti-gay in order to help you get on the ballot in Oregon.

Nader drew laughter when he called Dean "an insurgent who is now adopting a role of being a detergent of the dirty linen of the Democratic Party." Even Dean chuckled over that remark.

The crowd also roared when Dean was asked if would accept a Cabinet position in a Kerry administration. Dean said he hadn't "made any deals like that, but if Ralph comes on board maybe we can both get Cabinet positions."
end snips~

More on Dean and nader..

7. Why is Nader doing this?
I've seen him get hammered here numerous times, but why the hell is he doing this NOW of all times? Is he being paid off or is he really a Republican?

8. Yeah, he'd be good there, but I really think
he needs to be DNC chair. He needs to help steer this party in the right direction.

10. Dean was incredible today
he fielded personal attacks and turned his answers into ones supporting Kerry. He gained a lot of respect in my book.

11. NOOOOOOOOO!
I'm dearly afraid they'll do just that -- to shut him the fuck up. He will be EMASCULATED as head of the DNC. Plus, he's too good for that. Plus, they want someone like a McAuliffe who can cuddle up to corporations. Nor do I want him in a Kerry administration. No way.

But as a die-hard Dean supporter, I appreciate your appreciation nonetheless.

12. Not that I want him in the Kerry administration, but
what would be the problem with that?

13. I've heard some people talking about asking him to run
for governor of CA. Problem of course would be having to return to Vermont on the weekends to spend time with Judy and family.
