"MoveOn.Org: The Next Big Thing?"
is a Fortune Mag headline link at the bottom of the CNN web page.

<http://www.cnn.com/business2/b2/web/articles/0,17863,655745,00.html?cnn=yes>

The article was evidently published a couple weeks ago, but new to me. Fortune isn't on my usual trolling list.

The last sentence is a bit puzzling, stating: "...a Bush victory would be a bummer for him (Wes Boyd), for MoveOn, it might prove to be a blessing." As a member of MoveOn, I wouldn't mind if it had no more real big axes to grind and had to shrink or even disband. We will have won enough of the battles.

1. No. MoveOn will still have plenty of battles, even after Kerry wins.
Will DU disband after * is defeated?

Who knows what will happen with Kenny-boy?

Will his trial be over quickly enough for * to pardon him? Will we have to push on that issue, and other Enron-related stuff?

What about all the Halliburton stuff?

We will have to see that we get out of Iraq honorably. MoveOn can still have a role in that.

There is always plenty to do.

2. Until we clean out the Senate...
...of the lame, cowed, ineffective, spineless, wuss Dem Senators, we are not done.

If we had a good Senate, a lot of the crap Bush* pulled would have never happened.

Winning in November is just a start. There is lots of damage to be undone, this is a decade-long project, not one election.

3. incomprehensible
I'd expect a member of Moveon to realize the with the removal of Bush, the battle has only just begun.
I'd say that the corporate ownership of the US (and much of the rest of the world for that matter), is a major axe still to grind.

From the puzzling statement on CNN and from you post i get the impression that it is the latest tactic by the RW to instill the idea in the public mind that an organization like Moveon would be superflues once Bush is defeated; without Moveon it would be easier for the RW to regain control after Kerry has been president.

It's not like the puppetmasters of the neocons will disappear or give up when Bush is defeated.

4. Although moveon are not fans of Bush
They're not Kerry democrats either. They'll have battles to do with the conservative dems once kerry wins.

6. For how long
Do you remeber the anti-war emails that used to fly out of their camp? I draw my conclusions on the emails I got a few years back that condemned the democrats for taking it laying down on EVERY issue. Prominent democrats of late: Kerry, Edwards, etc. They were big wellstone and Kucinich fans before kerry got the nomination...

7. not long enough, i guess
i was not aware of moveon's criticism of the democrats. I'll keep that in mind. Are you still a member of moveon. B?C i've really gotten the impression that they're working hard to get kerry elected. or in their works "defeat bush"...

I'm going to a phone party to sign up i unregistered voters on Sunday. I'v only been a member for a few months.

8. Yeah, I'm in MoveOn
Yeah they're on the bandwagon to get Bush out, but they have no allegances anywhere really. They wanted Kucinich orginally... They'll bite kerry if he trys to pull any fast ones after winning.

9. MoveOn started not because or at the time of bush's selection,
but during Clinton's impeachment. Someone, as usual, doesn't know or is choosing to ignore history.

10. I am aware of the impeachment /MoveOn history,
and that the focus has changed to a favored candidate and then to ABB. It was the first email activism I was exposed to, and have sent many emails to others talking of it and its good work. MoveOn and their like, and their founders, have revolutionized the political process, aiming us closer to a real democracy- virtual town meetings, as it were. If they or others like them hadn't begun in '98 or so, would we have heard of Kerry's selection of Edwards by email, or would it have been through the prism of network or cable news?

This is all a big deal to me, and I think it's really cool. I guess I was in a hurry with my thread starter, and should probably have said something more like: The evolution of MoveOn has been quick, and, although I hope we are successful in the primary goal of retiring *, the next battles may be less dire, or less urgent. I should not have talked of disbanding. Sorry, Wes, and fellow DUers. I see DU being here for a long time, as well.
