Bring back the post rules! please

Ok i didnt like them that much but the forum degenerated into a mess of **** posts when you stopped enforcing those rules so please bring them back

They were arbitrary and juvenile. A grammar school exercise. Punish the whole class for the antics of the few.
Granted some of the kids need to be reigned in, but the adults shouldn't be burdened.

5. Juvenile? Take a look at what we have now...a free for all...

...that's looking more like the boards I left to come here in the first place.

- Some of you seem to lash out at any rule...even if it's for the common good. I've seen what happens to political boards that adopt the attitude of 'we don't need no stinkin' rules' or guidelines of civility. Eventually they melt down into chaos.

- DU is one of the FEW places left on the internet where a Democrat or 'lefty' can come to discuss what the rest of America is afraid to discuss: the true nature of the Bush* administration.

- The clowns are driving the serious posters away. DU needs to make a decision about what kind of political board they want.

6. The Existing Rules Do Fine When Enforced

SKINNER said to hit "Alert" for a heads-up. Right now, there are about 10 threads on page 1 that don't have "political" content, which is listed as the main characteristic for GD. Also, the threads complaining about the "tone", like this one, are suited to the "Ask the Admin" forum. But before and if this thread gets moved (I hit "Alert"), MORE rules don't help if the EXISTING rules aren't enforced.

I'm not a wannabe-know-it-all or preachy----Zeus knows my Friday & Sunday nights posts are Hades on earth. Am just reacting to the current chaos that might result in Draconian more "rules".
