I'm pretty buzzed from drinking Union coffee all day. And Thanks for the donuts IBEW. Cool bagels, IBCW. Laborers Local 585 cooked up the lunch for 100 of burgers and hot dogs California style on mesquite charcoal thank you very much.

We had our first day of organized anti-recall activity and I'm happy to say it was a resounding success. As I stated before, the unions are way out in front on this and have provided us statewide with phone banks, talking points, scripts , the whole shebang.

I estimate somewhere near half a million households were called statewide from the union's very deep lists of active voting democrats.Overwhelmingly the responses look to be about 14:1 against the recall. Hit about 38% live answers. I talked to lots of the vast majority of democrats in this state and if we just get out the vote, the recall is toast.

If you haven't checked into it and want to be active, California DUers, just find a Union hall and walk in and inquire.

We need volunteers statewide to phone from 10 am to 8 pm daily. It's fun to talk to folks that recognize this for what it is! You'll feel better fighting back, I guarantee you!

Good for you! This whole recall thing sickens me. I'm no friend of Davis... but he was elected one year ago; we need to respect that.

FWIW, my rich apolitical sis in Foster City is voting against the recall. I was a bit surprised to hear that.

I am a retired member of AFSCME and they endorsed Gray Davis a long time ago and wow, I am awfully angry about this recall and admittedly, I am not thrilled with Bustamante!

I'll be calling on Monday - maybe I can help I hope. The whole thing must be a big lie. Everyone I've talked to said its just a big waste of money that should be spent in other ways!

13. A report from the Central Valley

We've been precinct walking for the last two weeks. Almost all Dem. Clubs, the Central Committee, and local union organizers are getting in on this. A SPECIAL thanks to the Dean and Kucinich camps who easily put aside partisan politics for the common good. (I have no idea what the other 7 are doing. We haven't seen them.)

We're giving special GOTV efforts to Latinos by going into largely Latino precincts with Spanish-speaking volunteers and anti-recall informaion in Spanish. We were able to get tables at two upcoming local Latino events.

The Dem. office phones are ringing off the hook and we're putting EVERYONE to work walking precincts. We've enacted our phone tree for people unable to walk the precincts. One 71-year-old gentleman walked into the office and wanted to volunteer so we gave him a precinct list and 2 days later he came back with 31 new permanent absentee ballot applications.

Every Democrat in this state should be getting involved -- even if it's only an hour a week there's SOMETHING for you to do here.
