Fourteen US bases in a country smaller than Texas.

Gotta protect those oil interests....

Doonsbury reminded me of it yesterday:

1. Replacing the ones in Saudi Arabia. Bush did what OBL wanted.
One of the goals of Osama has always been to get US bases out of Muslim holy lands.

We are NEVER leaving Iraq.

3. It sounds like one of the pundits I heard talking about using...
...Iraq as an "intimidation base" in the region may just be right.

7. I dunno. I bet OBL will still have a cow over us being in Iraq. That is,
if anyone has passed him a note about it into his holding cell.

but i've been saying this forever. The invasion of Iraq has been and continues to be about establising a permanent military presence in the region in an arab country with a friendly government. Saudi Arabia was no good because of the anti-American sentiment there, so they figured by "liberating" Iraq they could achieve the goal. They screwed that up too since the people of Iraq now hate the US as much as the Saudis do.

I still think that once Kerry is inaugerated (an inevitability barring outright election theft by BushCo), he'll be appraised of the strategic value of this and the fact that we desperately need the oil in Iraq to flow and to flow into the US and he'll be forced to leave the troops in place. The whole thing is a big oil grab and unless we make a concerted effort to destroy our dependence on oil (and not just foreign oil...Alaska is no solution) we're pretty well stuckin the Middle East permanently IMHO.

11. The people who are so unfortunate
to live atop the land that harbors resources the U.S. covets, have been "softened up" by sanctions, POISONED by ordnance, contaminated water, disease... It's called NEO-NAZI EUGENICS. With the "FUCKOVER" handover today, the population reduction will carry on, no incriminating, documented numbers, boxcars, nasty incinerators spewing ash, u.s.w.

"NEVER AGAIN" to me means just that. We must ALL be vigilant and nip it in the bud. I'm tired of being called a "conspiracy theorist" when I can draw A STRAIGHT LINE that connnects the dots. NEVER AGAIN MEANS NEVER AGAIN. And it's happening AGAIN right in front of my eyes.

May the force be with Michael Moore. He has accomplished what those of us who have SCREAMED for the last 3 years were unable to do.

22. And who better...
...than John Negroponte to carry it out, former overseer of violence in Honduras in the early eighties (overseeing what some know as "the American Holocaust"). Well, now, Johnnie Boy is our new ambassador to Iraq. And just what does the big fella' got planned this time, I wonder? Will Iraqi mothers slowly parade through the streets of Baghdad holding up pictures of their "disappeared"?

Abu Ghraib was Disneyland compared to what's to come.

23. SoFA
Surely Bremer boarded his escape plane with signed SoFA in hand.*

* SoFA = Status of Force Agreement and is the "legal" ruse for most of our permanent bases around the world.

14. "Appearances" trumped "truth" quite some time ago.
The greedy, power-mongering bastards didn't anticipate that "the truth" would actually catch up with them *HA - HA - HA*.

They will reap what they have sewn. It's taken some time for them to create the arrogance that will take them down,...but, take them down that arrogance will.

They deserve everything they get in this life and thereafter.

19. Just checked Raeds blog
I remembered reading something about this and he says 6 bases.

<snip>
The American army is building six permanent bases in Iraq, three surrounding Baghdad, one in the south, on in the east and on in the north. The three surrounding Baghdad are Al-Habbanyya, which is an old Iraq military base and airport near the artificial lake of Habbania, the second is Ar-Rasheed base in the south-east of Baghdad, and the third is At-Taji base in the north of Baghdad, which is the larges base in Iraq, it looks like a small city. The other three bases are Ali base near Nasryya, Al-Walid base northern to Falluja, and another base in Al-Mosul. These six bases are the cancer in the body of the new Iraq.
