DAMN DU!! We Write One HELL Of A Movie Script Don't We??
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 04:31 PM by matcom
F-911

just got back.

My Fellow DUers: WE WROTE THIS DOCUMENTARY!!

make no mistake. if Michael Moore registers here and tells us he did NOT get much of his info here i'll eat my hat but i GUARANTEE you that you and I and the others here helped to make this movie possible.

i won't rehash the other threads BUT as a veteran WILL tell you the most important moment for me. It was right near the end. I'll paraphrase:

"They are serving so you and I won't have to. They are asked to risk their lives for you and me. They are SUPPOSED to respond to this call ONLY when our great nation is threatened. Do you think they will trust us the next time we ask them to do this? Should they?"

:wow:

BTW, western MA, PACKED MOVIE THEATER! Cheering, clapping YELLING during that movie.

BUSH IS FUCKING DONE PEOPLE!!!!

ON EDIT: Mrs Matcom said afterwards that the movie REALLY opened her eyes to the Saudi connections (first half of the movie). she told me that she KNEW i had been saying this for years BUT THIS MOVIE really made sense out of it and NOW she understood all of the connections.

THIS MOVIE EDUCATES

8. Saw F911 last night in the middle of Republican Houston
The theater was full of a wide variety of folks - old and young, black and white. I was still amazed by the gasps at scenes - the 7 minutes in Booker School, his golf shot after admonishing terrorists, the rumblings in the audience when not one senator would stand up for the representatives protesting the selection. It was like watching a DU history lesson that we have all known about , and now are watching other's learn from this movie. It was cathartic. I didn't think it was possible to dislike George Bush more, but after watching F911, I do and I think most of the people in that theater last night do now.

4. Ill be seeing the movie in an hour or so
I cant wait. It took almost 900 lives of soldiers and thousands and thousands of Iraqi people dead and so many wounded on both sides, and we knew all along this would happen, and yet, Im supposed to be glad now that the US public is finally waking up? I am devastated that it took this long..that the US populace allowed themselves to be brainwashed...that they threw our sons and daughters into harms way for no reason and went about their daily business not giving a shit what happened to so many people, that they attacked my husband and I for our anti war stance for the last year and more, even with a kid in Iraq..
Im not sure I can be anything, right now, then completely disgusted and angry...even as I watch Bush go down, I am just disgusted.
So many many Iraqi people murdered...so many many US soldiers dead..
and the US populace turned their heads and went into denial.
I can barely contain my anger these days.

6. I haven't seen F 911 yet
Have my granddaughter visiting for the next week and it's not my call to take her to see this. So I will have to wait until she goes home. I was wondering if any DUers from San Antonio had seen it and what audience response was?

9. Saw it Friday at the Fiesta on De Zavala
Packed house. the showing before also sold out, as did the next one. people cried, gasped, booed, laughed where appropriate, and applauded loudly at the end. went outside & there were people all decked out in Kerry gear...guess they were going to see dodgeball ;)

there was a car out in the parking lot that had this huge sign on top of it, all lit up: Defend America Defeat Bush

wowzers. San Antonio's a military town, too.

7. I will shit in my hat and wear it...
If Mikey Moore ain't been doing a hang here, either lurking or under a pseudonym. Just too many coinkydinks and besides, where can you get so much in-depth research? Especially when the world-famous "I need an answer and I need it now!" Du Real-Time, People-Powered Research Engine lurches into operation, belching and farting and groaning and chewing up square parsecs of The Internet. ;-)

10. If nothing else
We saw it here first, on DU.

And now the rest of the world knows what we have been commiserating about for three years.

Mr. Moore needs to send a big ol' check to Democratic Underground, LLC. If he hasn't already. If he has, let's all tell him, thanks.

11. Saw it in Redneckville, Southern California. It was like time on DU
I kept finding myself hoping those around me caught this or that part because so much information was given. I, like most of us here, will wish that this or that had come out, but man he got a lot packed into a couple hours.

I went to 11:00AM matinee because I didn't want to arrive to a sold-out. The theatre was half-full, very quiet. People were reacting throughout with comments, angry with BushCo, others seemed stunned. Lot's of response to the Bush Saudi alliances and the flight of Saudi family members out. Fantastic job.

I've been on DU just a couple weeks or so and knew about most everything in F911.

Mostly from indymedia and whatreallyhappened and other boards...

but I must add too, DU is the Best for anyone just jumping into the question game.

15. Yep, MM must be a member
or one of his researchers is. The movie is brilliant and insightful but I think much was pulled from DU. If I wrote a documentary from a DU perspective, I would include the same info. I know it's out there on the net but not with the same tone. He's reading DU.

19. I saw the movie in the SF bay area
To my amazment, this was the BIGGEST movie line that I've ever seen!! I've seen every major blockbuster at this theater,Starwars,Matrix,LOTR and none of those lines were as long as the F/911 line on Friday. And yes there was a HUGE ovation after the movie was over!

You fool me once, uggghh, shame on you.

You fool me twice 7%)#&*#+ *#))#*+#)

After that the audience where I was at erupted!!! And cheered for a few minutes afterwards.

23. No. he cannot
We all have to keep fighting. A person I met while organizing said that she was embarrassed that she abandoned her activism. She felt safe, everything was fine so she got on with her own life. When Kerry wins, we all have to stay active. He'll have the rw media after him, the corporations, the military-industrial complex pushing him. It's up to all of us to push back.

if the media had not been complete lap dogs. Like the Booker footage - they sat on that all this time. Until now, only a handful of us had seen that online.

25. Just saw it a few hours ago.
It was so packed that we couldn't get into the 3:30 showing and had to wait until 4. But damn was it worth it! The crowd was really into it- laughing, gasping in outrage. And I could tell some people were being hit with how awful our situation is- I heard a lot of "oh my god"s.
I started crying during the scene with the mother reading the letter. My boyfriend just squeezed my hand, didn't say a word.
At the end, the theater erupted in applause. Outside the theater, people were handing out fliers for peace rallies. I got a bumper sticker that said "Defend America, Defeat Bush." I also got a fake bill of money that said "9-11" and has a picture of George Bush with some real choice words by it.
Great movie, and I think it will definitely change the minds of those who see it.

27. yes - I was thinking that when I was leaving
I was also thinking that the film largely gave visuals to things I mostly knew about. For people seeing it for the first time, it could be overwhelming, I would imagine.

It also saddens me to think - for some people - they must just see it as liberal nonsense or something. And refuse to believe anything - even the irrefutable....

29. Want to write something helpful for Farenheit 9/11?
Go straight over to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361596 / , rate the film, and maybe even write a review for IMDB. Post on their message boards, too. Right now, there are a bunch of ignorant trolls holding court there who richly deserve refutation. Unleash your Dogs Of War!

30. Did it have the Marine saying"I guess it's not so easy to take over...
a whole country"?

One of my favorite clips in the whole media barrage.

Did he show NBC's Anne Curry literally cheerleading on the deck of the USS Abrham Lincoln?
