lol clinton supports bush's war now
Clinton defends successor's push for war Says Bush 'couldn't responsibly ignore' chance Iraq had WMDs

(CNN) -- Former President Clinton has revealed that he continues to support President Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq but chastised the administration over the abuses at Abu Ghraib prison. "I have repeatedly defended President Bush against the left on Iraq, even though I think he should have waited until the U.N. inspections were over," Clinton said in a Time magazine interview that will hit newsstands Monday, a day before the publication of his book "My Life."

Clinton, who was interviewed Thursday, said he did not believe that Bush went to war in Iraq over oil or for imperialist reasons but out of a genuine belief that large quantities of weapons of mass destruction remained unaccounted for.

4. If the inspections had continued, there would have been no invasion
No WMDs = No Invasion

It is very simple. . .

5. Yes, it is that simple: Complete inspection= no invasion
That is the beauty of Clinton's statements.

Some here seem to wish Clinton would say: "bush should have ignored Saddam, even though I did not". Well, that would be stupid, eh? Clinton is not stupid.

Reading between the lines, as you have done, emulatorloo, brings to light the truly simple revelation of Clinton's stance: bush's management of the war is insane. But then we all knew that, right?

7. Clinton is being very sharp here.
Recall that Kerry voted for the "war resolutions", so this is actually good politics.

Kerry can take an antiwar stand, but also not be accused of flip-flopping.

Clintons implication is that Bush & his neocons screwed this up, and I think thats what the public is thinking, too, in the back of their minds (tho no one will admit they where "wrong" in supporting the war).

8. I prefer honesty
and time does also. It would be better to say the war was a mistake.

12. Honesty is a good personal policy
I prefer honesty, too, Mr. mmonk.

However, political reality is that when dealing with the sheeple, honesty gets you unelected, ie, Carter.

It shouldn't be that way, but that's the way it is. It is the Nature of Political Reality that honesty is not always the best policy.

I'm all for changing that reality, and I do have a secret plan to do just that. Wanna hear my plan? <grin>

6. idolizing Clinton
is a bad idea. Though I thought he did well with America's economy, he is not the same kind of dem I am. I believe war should only be in defense of this country. There is no real credible way Hussein was any longer a threat to the US. He was in a box, pure and simple, with control of only part of his country. His movement was limited and there isn't anywhere he could go or any major weapons program he could effectively put together without being noticed.

The DLC's shinning star. I don't know why this is such a big shock to anyone.

16. Agreed.
I've never understood why such a moderate/right leaning Democrat would be idolized by DU. He got some things right, but he did alot to undermine the general population, too.

10. PNAC and the Neocons begged Clinton to invade Iraq.
But unlike Bush, Clinton had the brains and the balls to say no.

FIRE THE LIAR

... is playing the "triangulating for Hillary" game.

I don't think what he is saying is smart at all and I wish he'd shut up about it if that is the best he can do.

is obviously succeeding in his not at all subtle task of disrupting on this board. I mean the guy even puts "LOL" in his post, like "I'm LOL at the Democrats in dissent with each other." Sheesh.

And then ridicules the Kucinich delegation with that photo to boot. Is everybody too thick to see through this?

17. Could be
The reasons are that some love Clinton while some of us think media attention on Clinton will not provide any kind of "bounce". The poster may realize this. Maybe they will respond.

The reason IMO Clinton will not provide a bounce and may be a negative are as follows:

1. Clinton is only widely popular among dems.
2. It will take the media focus off of the investigations going on concerning the false pretext for war, investigations into possible illegalities, and corruption.
3. It will reopen the false debate that the Clinton administration is to blame for 9/11.
4. There will be concentration on the Lewinsky affair.
5. The press will say Kerry can't generate the enthusiasm that Clinton can.

There is more, but one can get the picture. I won't join in the disruption anymore if disruption is the intent of the post.

21. I am disappointed in what Clinton said too. But the tone of the post
with the LOL and the picture of the people in the phone booth representing Kucinich delegates suggests to me that the poster is having a laugh at the expense of the Dems, of which they are most likely NOT one.

And that bothers me.
