If Cap Hill Blue and John Dean are correct and Bush is about to be indicted for multiple felonies, he would quickly resign in the face of impeachment from desparate Repubs in an election year.

Who do you think the Repubs would nominate in New York then?

Rudolph Giuliani?

Tom Ridge?

John McCain?

Let's let the Freepers know we are now discussing this!

20. They have to pass a constituional amendment
for Shortsarebigger to be the President as he was born in Austria--or he would take it in a walk...

2. Guiliani would be their best choice...
If he wants it. Might not want to take that on at this point...

Can't see them wanting Mccain. He's practically a liberal in their eyes...

How about another Texan lunatic... Tom Delay! Oh wait he could be indicted too for that campaign funding scam...

Regardless of who they'd choose... You know they'll suck.

8. They might not mind losing with Guiliani
or McCain. I mean let's face it; if that happens, Kerry will win in a walk, even against Guiliani.

What they would say, however is, "Look, my friends, at the contrast between Liberals and Conservatives. President Clinton, lies under oath, never admits any wrong doing and finishs out his term. President Bush, upon finding that his administration was corrupt, did the honorable thing and resigned. Conservatives take responsibility for their actions; liberals dont."

12. They'd have to go with either Rudy or McCain.
Would they even try to run Jethro?

I've got to find this story from Dean.

4. David Duke
David Duke, a proud Republican, is fresh out of Federal Prison and represents the very essence of Republican dogma. He would be the best candidate to show America the true face of pure Republican beliefs. Bush could pardon Mr. Duke for his felonies, make him eligible to run, and endorse him. I think the GOP would be well-served to reward David Duke for his longtime support of the Republican Party.

13. Who is responsible for bringing indictments against the POTUS?
Do you know? Can lawyer working on behalf of Wilson do that or is it strictly Asscrack and his DOJ? Does congress have any role? I know the won't bring articles of impeachment against him but do they play any role in indictments?

I am so confused! :)

15. He can be indicted by the Fitzgerald Grand Jury, like Clinton was deposed
and accused by STARR. Remember? Only this time it isn't a BJ and perjury, its a felonious leak of classified information for political retribution, violating a special law.

Don't forget that it was Barry Goldwater who told Nixon that he must leave as the Repubs were ready to convict him to protect their own seats!

6. A better question would be, "Who would accept?"
Whoever would accept the nomination would have to believe that they are nothing but a sacrificial lamb. That rules out McCain.

I'd say Rudy would do their dirty work for them. Then get to go home in November.

It would have to be an old-timer on his or her way out.

I dunno.....Tommy Thompson??

10. I don't think he would resign - that would be admitting a failure
bush cannot bring himself to admit any responsibility and failure for anything. I don't know...if they want to win they go for a moderate like McCain (i know i know to some people here he isnt a moderate)

I think they would be too proud - even in a hypothetical where bush doesnt cling desperately to power (in the very non hypothetical position of being a felon) they would try to maintain the neocon junta...rumsfeld? cheney? Rove for VP?

14. There is alot of truth to that. He hasn't let the facts get in his
way yet. It will be the canned "I don't recall" response that seems to perfectly cover their asses. Does the dipshit or anyone in his administration remember anything from the last 3 and 1/2 years?

16. I agree with you.
Resign? When a reporter asked Bush to name a mistake he's made, Bush couldn't think of a single one.

That is NOT the sort of man who resigns the presidency. He'll leave when his choice is between an orange jump suit and Marine One. Then he'll do a little Nixonian wave and whirl off into the sunset.

18. It's resign or be impeached in September.
He'll resign to try and maintain GOP control of the Congress. And Cheney or Rove will be indicted alomg with him, according to the witness testimony, so they can't be President. And Jeb will be too tainted to even ask for it.

I like the David Duke suggestion...

And all the DLC-fueled "Kerry-McCain" speculation would then work to their advantage..

"Democrats urged John McCain to run as Kerry's VP. Clearly they support him....
