Poll question: Which vote is more important for Kerry to win in 2004?
Primary voters decided that the best thing to put up against a deserter was a war hero with experience in politics. This does make sense. The problem is that most Democrats and independents want universal health care, an end to NAFTA, withdrawal from the WTO, support for Hugo Chavez and immediate pull-out from Iraq. Instead of reaching out to members of his own party and to independents who think the Democrats look like Republicans, Kerry seems to be trying to court the Republican vote. He may not have noticed but the Republicans already have a candidate for whom they are planning to vote.

So should Kerry reach out to the Democrats and independents or to the Republicans?

1. Is there something wrong with wanting all three to vote for him?
Many middle-of-the-road Republicans could certainly be targets for crossover votes in November, especially if Bush keeps screwing up.

Not all Republicans are right-wing freaks, folks. Perhaps we should try to remember that once-in-a-while.

4. What's better: A moderate (which Kerry is) who gets Democrats to vote
There are more Democrats than Republicans. We don't need the Republicans to win. We do need the Democrats.

3. Given a choice between a Republican and a Republican, the Republicans
will vote for the registered Republican. Genius, you are right. The Democrats can count on losing if Kerry doesn't wake up. He needs to remember he's a Democrat. I recently did a survey and most people don't know there's a difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. Let's show them there's a difference.

10. Kerry is a prisoner of the "conventional wisdom" that is now the Fantasy
Bubble 3-d Virtual Reality generated by the Busheviks.

Kerry doesn't challenge the Matrix.

7. There is no evidence that a majority of Democrats support Hugo Chavez
Does anyone have any evidence to support this?

9. Even Kucinich has been silent on this issue
I'm not sure that supporting Chavez will win Kerry much support. It would certainly drive away Cuban-Americans.

11. Got a link "genius"?
No disrespect, but that is an arrogant monniker, even if you are entitled to it.

Yes, I know, so is taking the name of "Tom Paine", which is why I lowercased it and connected with underscore, to show respect at not fully appropriating his name.

Anyway, monniker aside. You cannot expect to make such claims and not have to back them up. Provide links, please.

12. Kerry doesn't need swing voters or moderate Republicans
He needs the Democratic party to get off it's ass and vote in this election! Hopefully apathy won't reign supreme as it did the last election . . .
