Texas GOP calls for investigation into fly-away Dems
DALLAS, Texas (AP) -- The Texas Republican Party is seeking a federal investigation into whether 11 state Senate Democrats who fled to New Mexico violated campaign finance laws by flying there in a bank's private jet.

The GOP made the announcement Tuesday after the mostly Democrat-less Senate approved a resolution to fine each missing lawmaker $1,000 a day, with the fine doubling for each missed session, but not to exceed $5,000 a day.

The Democrats, who have been in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for more than two weeks, have brought the Senate to a standstill by denying it a quorum to take up a GOP plan for congressional redistricting, an issue that has failed to pass twice this year. House Democrats fled the state for four days in May to block the redistricting bill in the regular session.

4. My thoughts...
Kenny Boy Lay provided * with a plane...Of all the unmitigated gall. I support the Dems position. But, how much trouble could they be in? Will the loose their jobs? Only through redistricting.

8. while they're doing that ...
maybe they should investigate the use of Homeland Security to track the first group down.

I'm sure they'll do it right after this.

20. LOL!
I usually never make it on time too. But I was here for this one. The poster called us dumbocrats and said are we going to go crying to bush. He said bush was too busy. He also posted the pic of the crying baby in a democratic seal.

The post actually stayed up longer than it should have.

George Bush and Dick Cheney
---------------------------
"There are still more interesting names on the list of companies that provided executive jets to the Bush effort in November 2000 aside from Enron and Halliburton. Among them are Reliant Energy, under federal investigation for manipulating energy prices in California; Anadarko Petroleum, whose executives enjoyed special entrée into Cheney's Energy Task Force; Tom Brown Inc., another oil outfit whose former CEO Donald Evans is now the Commerce Secretary; MBNA, the consumer-credit mammoth whose bankruptcy "reform" legislation is now being pushed by Bush; and, rather weirdly, Sallie Mae, the enormous financial services group that specializes in packaging and marketing government-backed student loans."

http://www.salon.com/news/col/cona/2002/08/05/bush/

Jeb Bush
------------
"Seven times during his reelection bid, Gov. Jeb Bush climbed aboard a private jet owned by National Century Financial Enterprises of Ohio, the once-high-flying health financing group now under federal investigation for multibillion-dollar fraud, campaign finance records show."

http://www.literalpolitics.com/Florida/corruptionrev.htm

Trent Lott
---------------
"Lott has cozied up to Steve Wynn, who not only has provided Lott with use of his private jet but also has given him thousands in campaign contributions. Wynn is ready to open what will be Mississippi's biggest and best casino, the Beau Rivage, right in Lott's home, the Mississippi Gulf Coast."

15. What's to investigate??
They think the repubes are assholes , trying to usurp the power of the people, and they broke quorum.. No need to investigate..

So they used a corporate plane.. They are not campaigning in it..

I have 5 words for the repubes in Texas..

Get Over It...Move On ...
