Listener Letters: NPR's Reagan Coverage
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 08:07 PM by AP
We hear reaction from our listeners about NPR coverage.

"Most express displeasure." One listener says the guy hasn't been in the news for years. Why all the attention? Another says there were a few positive things that came out of his administration, but has to question the oberblown adulation for someone with a record that is mixed, at best.

1. This is all right-wing media, nothing more. . .
I don't know anyone, even amongst my repub friends, who really gives a shit. I saw more angst at John Ritter's passing.

2. On the same day that John Ritte dies, another TRUE AMERICAN....
HERO NAMED JOHNNY CASH DIED TOO!

I felt more sorrow when he passed then I did when I heard of RR's passing.

4. I know several people who are already tired of it
and it's just been one day.

3. NPR was comparing Ronnie to FDR
no wonder a lot of listeners were outraged. Speaking their names in the same breath is sacrilege!

8. It seems there's been little mention of FDR re. D-Day coverage --
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 09:14 PM by DeepModem Mom
Certainly it is the soldiers, living and dead, who deserve the focus of this day, but I wonder if a Republican had been President 60 years ago, if our media would be heralding that President's leadership in its coverage. (And, at least one Republican proposed replacing FDR with Reagan on the dime, even before Reagan's death!)

On edit: MSNBC playing audio of FDR at this moment -- as his great, patrician voice would have been heard by radio listeners across the nation during WWII.

7. NPR is now under
Neocon control. The Admin made appointments to the Board giving them the majority. Be careful with NPR.
