Dummy in Normandy
Our lil' warmonger should be happy that the death of Reagan has pre-empted almost all of the D-Day coverage.

His speech today was terrible. Not only did he read it like a five-year old trying to get through his first primer, but good god! The pronunciation!

Window: "Winder" (my jaw dropped)
Hundred: "Hunnert"

What a maroon. What a shameful piece o' shit.

4. MSNBC has been playing it
At least, snippets of it (I'm sure they won't replay the 'winder' bit in their excerpts). They had the full speech earlier, they'll probably repeat it sometime today.

They also had live the international tribute - beautifully done, just superb. And there was our pResident, looking pained and bored, with Pickles giggling in his ear. So humiliating.

7. I just saw a bit on cable about it
and there was Bush with that ever-present stupid look on his face, where the corners of his mouth are turned down. What a dork.

Dimson and Chirac were just depressing. Chirac bowing before the veterans before pinning their medals on them...I couldn't imagine the arrogant * doing that. Chirac had an aura of reverance and dignity about him...then there's *. Chirac remembered those in the resistance from different nations...couldn't imagine * doing that either. Chirac actually delivered a moving speech in a fluid manner instead of *'s 4-5 words...long pause...4-5 words...long pause.

It's sad that I was so impressed that Chirac walked without tripping and that he pinned all of those medals on their recipients and no one got hurt!

Whenever I saw Bush in the audience, he was either looking down, looking dazed, or looking dead. I also noticed that he appeared to be chewing bubblegum, which reminded me of a photo I'd seen taken of him when he was at Harvard (or Yale?) blowing a big bubble in class.

I'm guessing he resorts to the oral form of the bazooka whenever he feels out of his league, as he clearly was on D-Day.

He's in desperate need of a mental health care worker.

Damn! I couldn't believe it. Then there was Pickles with her 'bang the symbols' style of clapping. Ugh.

Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 05:39 PM by Marianne
what a terrible embarassment. She obviously has been trained as a seal in clapping.

They are both out of their league.

20. I was hoping that someone would work with her after the SOTU's and
show her the films and teach her a more appropriate way of clapping. Hell, what she does would be fine at a sporting event or a concert or something but for pity's sake even I know how to clap in a more refined manner when it is called for and I'm in a rural area in TN which is a far cry from being on the world's stage.

Out of their league is an understatement.

17. I'll get flamed for this, but...
the French got class.
They know how to do.
Called "savoire faire". (sp?)
I think they may be the classiest folks on the planet.
They can also cut you down with a couple of words, or a look.
But maybe that's part of having class.
Whup away.
;-)

16. God, it's painful
to try to listen to him. I find myself grinding my teeth. Could he talk any slower or more deliberate? I'm only half way through, does it get any better? What's with the blood and gore history lesson? He sure does know how to make people feel like shit.

The American media didn't report this great moment of the USA representation abroad with all the deserved attention. :-)

For us, to watch Bush is always both a fun and a tensing
