I'm Bothered by all the Recall Threads

so i thought i'd add my own!

but seriously: look at this mess, it's a circus and then some for sure. but it disturbs me greatly that in a crucial time such as this, when we must get behind our candidates and shore up the case against bush and its presentation to the public...

we spend all this time talking about the carrot arnold used in some woman's butt.

i'm not saying the CA situation isn't extremely important, of course it is and I for one will name it illegal, a coup, and any other extreme title i can give it. but the point is: it is now in the hands of californians. for good or ill, the dem party and supporters didn't take this threat seriously enough, and now it's their mess to deal with. i wish them luck.

but for the rest of us: notice how the niger story is gone? or the momentum that dean has gotten from meetups & magazine covers- it should be *so* much more but it's not, thanks to the recall. the list of dying soldiers grows every day, and the 9/11 documents should've begun an investigation, or at least enraged some fence sitters. i could go on.

but my point it simple: if we hard-core political junkies here at DU can't keep our minds off the recall, imagine what it's like for joe sixpack. rather than let our nation be hijacked again but the thugs, let's get back to what we do best: uncovering the truth and reminding those in power that we have not forgotten, will not get over it, and that we will take our country back.

Remember, smoking bans began in California and who would have thought New York would ban smoking in bars?

5. i'm not saying it's not important

not at all. and you're correct: what happens in CA is often a sign of what's to come for the rest of the nation. but i believe that an analysis of the situation *now* is premature- we don't even know if davis is gone yet. further more, this is a time when the democratic primary candidates must make or break it with respect to fundraising, name recognition, etc. how can they be expected to do this when every news channel, every internet board, and every water cooler discussion is "arnold: nazi or good guy?"

my resources are limited, and i've been giving them to the dean camp for a while. but i think they'd be worried to know that the legions of internet supporters who vaunted them to the forefront are busy exchanging pics of arnold smoking pot, boobs on his head, etc.
