Snarlin dick cheney (500) John Kerry (14,000 +) at KC Rally
Although I think I heard that the puke rally was private, I stood right next to where the media was keeping an ear open, and later talked with an advance person for the Kerry campaign.
He said that 14,000 tickets had been issued, but there were many like us who had the ticket, but it was made out for two. I listened to the news people and they were saying 20,000+.
We had a very good rally, and got put up front with the union members, so, while I didn't get to shake his hand, I was about 50 feet from our next president.
They said the rally was going to kickoff at 4:30 p.m., but he didn't get there until 7:30, there were still people coming in when he got there.
Our legs are killing us this morning, but, I believe it was well worth it, the wife may think a little differently though, but she's still a strong Kerry supporter, just not as deep as myself.
I'm hoarse from hooting and yelling, and cheering, but I'm glad I am.
We were introduced to Richard Sanders recovering republican, vietnam veterans, and state politicians.
Interestingly, Kerry introduced Claire McCaskel who is running opposite of our sitting govenor Bob Holden, Jean Carnahan was there, Nancy Farmer who is running against our whiskey drunk senator bond was there, anyone who was anyone was on the stage.
We took several pictures, but, we'll have to wait to get the film developed.
It was a great time, Kerry gave a great speech highlighting his plans and drew boos at the mention of chimp* and assmunch. We didn't get home untill late last night and we're exhausted today, but if you've never attended one of his rallies and the chance arises go.

2. sounds good
he is getting some big crowds around the country. i like how the events are very open to the public unlike bush events which are highly controlled (and not just for security reasons).

i really wish cspan would show more of these events on tv. they show just about everything bush and cheney do.

4. Good for you !!!!
We met him a few weeks ago when my wife's union (UAW) endorsed him. There was an overflow crowd, and we were sent to an auxiliary building to watch the speech on giant TV, I was bent !!! But, the senator heard about it and, against SS wishes, came to meet us !!! So , i got to meet him, get the autograph, and i asked him to close the school of the americas, which he said he would look into !!! SO i know how you feel !!!

6. something I picked up in the replies here
I used to watch so many of Gore's stump speeches on C-Span and there were some broadcast on cable. But this year I've noticed that any hope of seeing such speeches has just about disappeared. Apparently it is now forbidden to even mention Kerry on cable or C-Span--or close to it. They don't have to whore for Bush; they just have to "ignore" for Bush. I don't know how Kerry is ever going to really get his message out. I feel like I am deep within the old Soviet Union trying to glean scraps of news from the outside. This a.m. Imus played part of Kerry's speech (I assume the one you saw) where he has the crowd pumped up about restoring democracy to our country. Then Imus and those pathetic butt lickers around him laughed and laughed and said "they always say the same thing; God, why don't they shut up....just shut up". Yep, Imus, it's a laugh---and maybe the day the FCC sigs on you like it did Stern, you will understand the whole "democracy" thing...........asshole.

8. Security slowed everything down
there was only one walk through metal detector and a couple of wands. I had to empty my pockets and the women had to let security rummage through their purses.
The advance person said they thought only 4000 would be there, that's why they didn't have more detectors. They were very pleasantly suprised with the turnout.
