Al Franken does the greatest Rush imitation !
He's got him! I wish he would do more of "Rush" and have Rush saying some really stupid things - that would blow the minds of the dittoheads if they were to hear him. :)

Also, he has Col. David Hackworth on as his guest. He said he was 74 years old! Wow! I thought he was about 58-60?? The guy sure looks great for his age. He went into service at 14 years old....served in the Korean War...then Vietnam. Was at Fort Campbell, KY...

1. Did you ever notice they both sound like Vincent Donofrio from MIB
"Where do you keep your dead?" Edgar I think the character's name was.

2. My critique of Al's show.....
His co-host sounds like one of the NPR broadcasters....nothing wrong with that - just not very exciting.

Listening to Al interview Col David Hackworth, I thought the Colonel was making devastating comments about General Myers, Rumsfeld, and others but Al did not pursue it properly. For example, Hackworth pointed out that Myers was a lapdog to Rumsfeld and would never have called Dan Rather to stop the photos without checking with his superiors first. Al just let that go... I thought he should have amplified the great points that Hackworth was making...but it is easy to look at the faults of others... :)

3. Katherine Lanpher
Katherine Lanpher formerly worked for Minnesota Public Radio, so I suppose that's where her radio style comes from.

6. Didn't we hear recently that Rummy was a micro-manager?
he got into every possible detail about the smallest thing... and then the illogic he didn't know the extent of the prison abuse?

7. Useful comments, kentuck
You might consider forwarding them to Air America. Most of the "critiques" I read around the internet just aren't very helpful. "Al Sucks! Franken's The Greatest!" but actual instances and suggestions are a rarity.

Franken's not a radio host by trade, and he's only been at it a couple of months. Suggestions like yours could help him out.

Although, considering he's kicking Rush's pasty white wherever they go head-to-head, maybe he doesn't need much advice. But with a little help from listeners, Franken will remain atop the ratings.

8. Why imitate?
"I wish he would do more of "Rush" and have Rush saying some really stupid things"

Why imitate when you could just play a tape of Rush talking about just about anything?

9. Well, in Rush's voice he could say, for example...
"You know, I have a lot of followers, the dittheads, and I have played them for fools for almost 15 years..."

or

"You know folks, George W Bush is really a moron. I say all these good things about him because I make money and he keeps my taxes low so you people can keep me supplied with Oxycontin.."

or

"OK, ladies and gentlemen, I have a confession to make. I went down today and changed my registration to the Democratic Party. I know some of you may be angry but I have to stay on top of the wave..."

:)
Those are the type of comments I was thinking of....I don't think you will hear them from the real Rush....
