Anyone catch the conversation between Juan Williams and Brit Hume??
They were discussing media bias and the latest poll. Juan Williams was quite vocal, to my surprise. He made the comment that the press' job was to be critical and scrutinize those in power....Brit Hume got a little fired up (angry)and said in a very ridiculing manner something like "Yeah, speak truth to power...and comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable..." (paraphrasing but barely)

1. Hume is a nit-wit....
That quote he repeated (whose source I have forgotten) is exactly
right in describing what the press should do!

Hopefully people watching won't realize he was attempting sarcasm,
and will take that quote in.

3. And then Juan Williams asked him directly.....
Do you not believe that is the press's job? Then Chris Wallace went to another subject before he could answer....

2. My step-dad met Juan in the Billings, MT airport on Friday morning
He saw Williams getting a cup of joe at a stand there in the airport and Williams said hi and my step-dad said good morin' Mr. Williams. And Mr. Williams said ahhh, thanks, that's mighty kind of you. And my step-dad said that he enjoyed listening to him.

Jaun was a real nice guy. He was in Montana for some kind of Lewis and Clark thing.

4. Juan really does try
I found it interesting that there is now only one moderate voice on the program. I hesitate to call Williams liberal, though he probably is. Faux sucks, I think that sums it up.

15. she wasn't Sunday
which pissed me off. Though perhaps she just wanted a day off. So, with her gone, she was replaced by another balding, bespectacled, over-fed white man, who might well have been a charter PNACer from his dialog - I didn't catch his name.

5. While at ABC, Hume regularly played tennis at 41's WH,

all the while pretending to be ABC's unbiased DC reporter.

At least he's out in the open now on Faux.

6. Juan and Brit the twit get into it every week like that.
Unlike Alan Colmes, at least Juan stands up to these fucking PNAC idiots.

7. I have posted about Williams before.
He seems conflicted. One minute he is parrotting the RW line. The next minute he tells the Brit Humes of the world where they can get off.

9. Williams is the only thing fair and balanced about that show.
Too bad he's always bullied, mocked and ridiculed there. At least he stands up and fights.

16. As I have said in my previous post about Williams,
as the child of Panamanian immigrants, Williams was raised to believe that everything America says and does is right -- this despite the United States' ugly history in Panama. That is why you see him leaning right sometimes. And I do think that he toes the conservative line for mostly professional reasons. Writer Jill Nelson, who worked with Williams at the Washington Post in the 1980s, paints a not-too-flattering picture of Williams and his conservative tendencies in her memoir "Volunteer Slavery."

On the other hand, when it comes to his knowledge of the African American experience, Williams comes correct most of the time, as in his authorship of the companion volume to the PBS series "Eyes on the Prize." And another DUer mentioned that Williams has a sister who is a strong liberal voice.

18. Yikes! That's a scary lookin-bunch!
From left to right (or right to far-right for the truly ideology-minded), Belinda Tripp (Linda's far more beautiful sister), Flora McFrizz-Assistant House Plant Buyer for WalMart's DelMarVa regional distributors, Sally Struthers, and finally, the cross-dressing female character from Bruce Willis' "Color of Night" (as played by Jane March).

13. Read the book..."Blinded By The Right"
by David Brock. Brit Hume was a HUGE background player in the Clinton scandal. He worked directly with the repubs to bring Clinton down.
