They just reported that Al Qaida would prefer the troops pull out of Iraq and since Bush* will keep them there longer, they don't want a Bush* win. They even brought up the Spain elections being swayed because of 3.11.

Subliminally, CNN is telling everyone to vote Bush!

Althought Blitzer is off today. I do plan to drop a line to CNN and berate them. That was absolutely disgusting. Sorry, I can't remember all what was said, they were interviewing some so called experts and that it what was said. It will probably be replayed later today...maybe on the Paula Zahn segment.

I am willing to bet this will be said more and more from right wingers as the election gets closer.

Bush's Broken Promises

"You can't say one thing and do another." - George W. Bush, 10/31/00

During the presidential campaign and his first year in office, George W. Bush made a number of promises affecting American families, but he has failed to keep them. From breaching the Social Security lockbox to making it harder for middle class families to pay for college and leaving out millions of seniors from his prescription drug proposal, Bush has made a habit out of saying one thing and doing another. Here is a catalogue of Bush's broken promises revealed in his FY 2003 budget and in other key policy areas. In contrast to Bush's failures, Democrats have a strong record of progress on these issues.

Summary of Bush's Broken Promises

*Deficit

Bush said his tax cut would not cause deficits, even in a bad economy.

Bush's FY 2003 budget posts $106 billion deficit, the first deficit since 1997. The budget will return to balance in 2005, at the earliest.

*Social Security

Bush said Social Security Trust Fund would remain in a lockbox.

Bush breached the Social Security Trust Fund and is on schedule to spend $1.65 trillion of it over the next ten years.

*National Debt

Bush promised to pay down a record amount of the national debt.

Bush not only failed to pay down the national debt, he has been forced to request a $750 billion increase in the debt limit.

*Education Reform

As part of the bipartisan education reform, Bush promised to spend more money on education.

Bush budget cut funding from his own "No Child Left Behind" law and provided the smallest education funding increase in seven years.

*Pell Grants

Bush promised to increase the maximum Pell Grant award, thereby increasing access to higher education.

Bush froze Pell Grant limit below his promised level.

*LIHEAP

Bush promised to "fully fund" LIHEAP (the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program).

Bush's budget cut LIHEAP by $300 million.

*Medicare

Bush pledged to provide Medicare prescription drug coverage for all seniors.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that Bush's plan would cover only 6 percent of Medicare beneficiaries.

*Yucca Mountain

Bush promised to listen to sound science and local officials before deciding to bury the nation's nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain.

Bush designated Yucca Mountain the site before all the science is in, flouting local officials.

*Student Loans

Bush promised to make higher education more accessible by helping students with high costs.

Bush proposed pulling $1.3 billion from a program that allows students to consolidate education loans at federally subsidized interest rates.

In a statement released by the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades, which
claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombings and claims to be the
European military wing of al-Qaeda, the group's leader supported George
Bush for president. The suprise announcement came coupled with an order
by the group's leader for all al-Qaeda operatives in Europe to pause
all terrorist operations. The reason for the ceasing of terrorist
operations in Europe, according to the group, was to give Spain time to
withdraw their troops from Iraq as Spain's newly elected socialist
Prime Minister has promised to do. The terrorist group stated that it
wished Bush to win because it was not possible to find a leader, "more
foolish than you, who deals with matters by force rather than with
wisdom."

supports the re-election campaign of U.S. President George W. Bush: "We
are very keen that Bush does not lose the upcoming elections."
Addressing Bush, it says: "We know that a heavyweight operation would
destroy your government, and this is what we don't want. We are not
going to find a bigger idiot than you."
The statement said Abu Hafs al-Masri needs what it called Bush's

statement tells the president: "Actually, there is no difference

25. TRANSCRIPT OF OFFENDING SEGMENT
" (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ARENA (voice-over): Terror experts say it's not about who wins the U.S. election, it's about impact.

M.J. GOHEL, ASIA-PACIFIC FOUNDATION: If, for instance, say, George Bush was in the lead in the opinion polls right now and an attack took place and that changes the equation as it did, for instance in Spain, then al Qaeda would feel that it has scored a major success.

ARENA: Al Qaeda affiliates attacked Spain just before its elections in March. Some suggests that cemented an overwhelming win for the socialist party.

ASHCROFT: We believe, for example, the attack in Spain is one that is viewed by al Qaeda as particularly effective in advancing al Qaeda objectives.

ARENA: The attack did result in Spain pulling its troops out of Iraq. Experts say the less Western influence in Iraq, the better for al Qaeda.

GOHEL: Iraq is a key battleground for the terrorists. The terrorists want to turn Iraq into another Taliban Afghanistan. They would like to see the premature withdrawal of the U.S.-led coalition forces.

ARENA: Neither John Kerry nor the president has said troops pulled out of Iraq any time soon. But there is some speculation that al Qaeda believes it has a better chance of winning in Iraq if John Kerry is in the White House.

BEN VENZKE, INTELCENTER: Al Qaeda feels that Bush is, even despite casualties, right or wrong for staying there is going to stay much longer than possibly what they might hope a Democratic administration would.

(END VIDEOTAPE)"

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0405/27/wbr.01.html

This is segment is just a collection of right-wing memes about the war on terror. There is no actual substance to it. "Iraq is a key battleground" - "AQ thinks they have better chance of winning in Iraq if JK is in the WH", etc... How the fuck can anyone say that Kerry could not win this after Bush has fucked it up so bad? A new approach, one that involves PLANNING and less LYING seems to me to be the way to win the war in Iraq. If a "win" is even possible at this point.

One of the strangest things about this segment is that NO ONE knows how an attack would influence an election. AQ has no idea either. Yet logically there would be some sort of impact. It's just that no no one knows exactly what it would be, thus this is all speculation turned into repig spin. It's disgusting, it's flawed reasoning, and those that employ you it, IMO, are no better than terrorists. In fact they are doing EXACTLY what AQ wants, spinning and speculating in a sowed climate of fear. Fuck these asshats might as well be working for AQ as far as I'm concerned.

Fuck you CNN - network for Al Queda. You spread the fear, you sow the doubts, you disprupt our national discourse!

33. I hate to be a bore, but I gotta keep posting this.
US intelligence agencies said in March the "al-qaeda affiliated group" that claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombs does not exist. It was a hoax. Yet this Arena scum above says "Al Qaeda affiliates attacked Spain". Just like Ashcroft. To sow fear. Contradicting the clear evidence presented by US intelligence agencies. This is insane that CNN lets him promote these lies and propaganda on national TV.

...specialists say there is no evidence the organization exists ... none of those claims has proved true, intelligence specialists say ... US intelligence officials do not know whether the group exists ... "This group, organization, or whatever it is, is a phantom." ... messages from the purported brigade are not credible ... none of the brigade's e-mails has ever proved authentic ... "We have no information confirming the actual existence of this group,"

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/03/13/officials_group_tying_self_to_blasts_may_not_be_real/

This is what we've got to get through to the media. They are knowingly or unknowingly promoting a falsehood that borders on propaganda.

He was speculating (and looking creepily happy doing so) that if there's a terrorist attack this summer, it would *benefit* Bush in November because the country would 'rally around the pResident' like they did on 9/11.

Oh goodie, the potential death of thousands of citizens would benefit Bush. Schnieder was almost rubbing his little gnome hands in glee. I can see that they're already laying the groundwork for some random terra 'attack'. Traitors. Bastards.
