If Shrub hasn't resorted to drinking again before today, he will.
I read the text of Al Gore's speech at New York University this afternoon, but I didn't get the real ipact until I watched it on C-Span tonight. The voice inflections, and tones make a very BIG difference to words on a piece of paper (computer screen).

The funniest part of the speech, I thought, was when he mocked Bush's words at the State of the Union speech.

(snip)

President Bush set the tone for our attitude for suspects in his State of the Union address. He noted that more than 3,000 "suspected terrorists" had been arrested in many countries and then he added, "and many others have met a different fate. Let's put it this way: they are no longer a problem to the United States and our allies."

To hear Gore get very quiet, and softly and mockingly repeat "Let's put it this way, theya re no longer a problem to the United States or our allies," was priceless.

It was in context with Gore's statement that Bush's attitude on the treatment of prisoners set the tone for the treatment of the prisoners at Au Garib, GMO, and other non-disclosed detention centers.

If you didn't get the chace to see the speech, C-Span is going to re broadcast it at 12:40AM EDST.

6. I can't watch it because my TV is in the garage.
I'm boycotting the networks. No big loss.

But I DID hear Gore's speech on the radio. Randi Rhodes read his entire speech this afternoon, and it was magnificent. Absolutely beautiful. One of the best, most scathing, eloquent speeches I have ever heard.

7. Boozing Bush
LOL! Quite a while ago, I used to have a few laughs posting on a Yahoo board, pretending to be a drunken George Bush, sneaking shots of NyQuil and logging on to Yahoo after hours using Dick Cheney's computer...his screen ID was too_much_evil_dewars.

I even made a shirt out of it, though I don't think I've ever sold any of them; but as a result of these recent episodes, just today I changed my t-shirt ad to this:

8. Interesting. Others have also cited that very same quote
and its chilling implications for the United States' moral standing with regard to the Geneva Convention etc....
