History lesson: GOP must stop Bush
Thirty years ago, a Republican president, facing impeachment by the House of Representatives and conviction by the Senate, was forced to resign because of unprecedented crimes he and his aides committed against the Constitution and people of the United States. Ultimately, Richard Nixon left office voluntarily because courageous leaders of the Republican Party put principle above party and acted with heroism in defense of the Constitution and rule of law.
"What did the president know and when did he know it?" a Republican senator — Howard Baker of Tennessee — famously asked of Nixon 30 springtimes ago.

1. I used to think that all ReThugs were blind pond scum.

I'm starting to think that now there are some who are
ready to jump ship, if given the right prodding.

"accidents" who didn't toe the line? (paraphrasing)

5. Hell Yeah, it's going to take the Republicans, because we don't
have any Democrats standing tall with a couple of exceptions.

8. damn! Isn't that the SAD truth!!??
Hmm, let's see, the press has been complicit, the Democratic party has been complicit, people like Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller, "Democrats" all, have been supporting him .......

And the biggest threat he faces is from his OWN FUCKING PARTY.

A sad sad SAD day for America and the Democrats.

We are indeed living in a one-party state.

15. It would help if people understood how the rules work.

You are correct nadinbrzezinski.

I'd love to see enough Republicans in both House and Senate cross the aisles. The seachange in attitude of this administration would make your head spin. I have no doubt the Democrats have a keen edge for revenge, but we first have to take back the House and Senate to prove it.

The real cowards reside in the Republican Party who let this little dictator-fascist wannabe trample the Constitution and our democratic institutions.

16. you said it nadinbrzezinski
that's the facts that's how it works nadinbrzezinski gets it! It does not matter how much Democrats stand up and yell which they do! If a Republican Congressman does not introduce the articles of impeachment it won't happen that's how it works! Word! listen to nadinbrzezinski that's how it works period!

What we need to do is work on getting more Democrats in the House. I want the House back that's what we need there will be no change until we do it! If you have a Republican Congressman write him or her (my understanding is that paper letters makes more of an impact) fax, call, and yes do email them.

See my post in the lounge asking for Blog help. I plan on reporting on the House of Reps. so people can read at their leisure what's going on in the House of Reps.
Some of the stuff I have seen in the House is amazing the House is ran like a dictatorship by the Republicans.
The Iraq watch is worth tuning in to the Democrats get up and tell it like it is you'd think they where DU'ers!

One last thing DeLay the bug man has to go and this is the guy running against him
support him here's his web site. http://www.richardmorrisonfordistrict22.com/
He needs money but if your anywhere near his district and can do leg work for him do it!

6. Herein lies the problem
"Ultimately, Richard Nixon left office voluntarily because courageous leaders of the Republican Party put principle above party and acted with heroism in defense of the Constitution and rule of law."

There's no Constitution left. Nor, it would seem, courageous leaders of the Republican party.

7. the republican party today.....
is not the republican party of 30 years ago, not that they were good then, but at least there were a few willing to force Nixon out. I doubt any of today's have the will, or the morals, or the scruples to stand up to this criminal misadministration and call them on their deeds, or at least go beyond a brief passing comment to some reporter. They all sicken me, they have been a disaster for our country, WE, the American people, will boot his ass, and as many of his congressional cronies as possible, out OURSELVES in November, we WILL take our country back.....

9. Oh shraby I so agree, yet when I bring this up with even the top
stellar, members of DU, I am often told that with the R's in charge, there is no way. I say BS, there are many Republicans that are still patriotic Americans, and if they want to preserve the America they know, they are going to have to act. It's really on their shoulders, not ours. We will be there to help. This is not a partisan issue. It's our very country at a crossroads and I don't like the fork in the road we are heading in, neither should they.

14. It may be started...
more are speaking out and with a majority of Republicans congress, they are probably our only hope. Electronic voting will probably tip the scales in favor of the Republicans in November unless the machines get banned until the problems are worked out, but that doesn't look like it will happen. Maybe there will be a tipping point when good men say "enough" and put their country first once again, it looks like the media is starting to help put the pressure on, but maybe I'm a dreamer.

11. I have lost my illusions on this
I am an idealist at heart, I lean to believing that people of reasonable intelligence and TRUE patriotism will stand up for what is right for their COUNTRY vs their PARTY....

BUT!

Then I imagine any of these Republicans that I am feeling generous towards, standing in a voting booth in November....

and in my heart of hearts, I know they will never pull the lever for any Democrat.
