Is anyone---Rep., Dem, other--buying the ideas behind tonight's speech?
I mean, come on:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/05/23/bush.iraq/index.html

Aides said Bush will outline a series of steps leading up to the handover and will discuss the U.S. role beyond that date -- including the command structure for a proposed multinational force in Iraq after an interim government takes power.

Aides said the series of speeches is intended to explain the process of transition and, since about 140,000 U.S. troops are expected to remain in Iraq for more than a year after the handover, to prepare Americans for continued casualties.

Even an eloquent, principled president would have a hard time selling the idea that we will both hand over power yet leave 140,000 to languish in Iraq, and that those who we leave behind will be coming back in unphotographed cargo planes.

Too bad these speeches won't be televised.

It's just so maddening. And I need to vent.
Still, it's less depressing than what I should be doing right now (sending out resumes).
Indulge my vitrol.

But I'm not sure that they'll be around for much longer. I'm not sure there's much job security there. (deadpan expression on face):eyes:

2. Zig-Zag Zell
...Miller will. But then, he'd buy two-day old sushi, a manual transmission Yugo w/ 125,000 miles on it and a packet of "Sea Monkeys" for their potential as pets.

5. Note he is speaking at the "Army War College"
Our big he-man War President dares not face an audience that is not hand-picked.

6. I think he is going to try to sell the economy also....it's also a lie
Anyone trying to pay these gasoline prices, healthcare, buy food for a family, will tell you the economy is in shambles. Iraq is one of the direct causes of the gasoline prices rising. However, he is relying on the war to keep the economy afloat but it is not working because 'them that has, keeps gettin.' I mean the people at the top. The economy is working well for those CEOs and folks with unearned income and income over $200,000 which are most of Bush's friends.

7. It's about the new resolution at the UN

from CNN:

The United States today proposed a new United Nations resolution that would give a multinational peacekeeping force in Iraq a one-year mandate after Iraq assumes sovereignty June 30. The mandate could be renewed by the U.N. Security Council or at the request of Iraq's government, Germany's U.N. ambassador Gunther Pleuger said.
