Bloomberg wants NYC to be the city that sleeps
Edited on Sun May-16-04 06:06 AM by Cascadian
I know I had posted something like this a few weeks ago but it looks the like the word is spreading. I am just keeping the story alive for you in New York and beyond. If it can happen in New York they will close up earlier nationwide.

Hey Mike. First you take their ashtrays away and now you want people to go to bed at 1 AM? What is next? Ban alcohol because people will walk across the street while intoxicated???

I knew this was going to happen. This is an effort to kill off nightlife and New York is just the beginning.

1. That's what happens
when Republicans are in office. Life gets boring. These incredibly dull people's only interests are the stock market and figure out ways to cheat employees out of their rights. I don't see Bloomberg as a second-term mayor.

2. Do you want to go to a convention or a resort area that has no nitelife?
One of my friends said she lost 60% of her income when they banned nude dancing in Orlando, and the club she worked at was 50 miles across the city from Disney.

3. Oh-ho, look what the problem is now
"And that the new license, in its current form, would do nothing to make clubland safer or address the No. 1 source of complaints: noisy sidewalks outside smoke-free nightspots."

Oops, the asshole anti-smokers weren't satisfied with using lies about second-hand smoke to ban it in the clubs, bars, and restaurants, now they want to ban it on the streets as well. Time to tell these people to cram it.

4. Hohohoho!!
If our dear Mayor of London tried to to that, he'd be lynched.

(sigh)

We can but dream, eh?

6. He's the worm in the Big Apple
and hopefully he will be voted out of office and a Dem will be brought in.

How can he expect New York be New York if he takes away what makes it so special - an energized city no matter the time of day or night.

7. First, you kill off the bartender income by banning smoking.
Then, you finish off the bartenders by forcing them to do "Last Call" at 12:55 am.

Unbelievable. Why the bar owners and employees haven't marched yet is beyond me.
