Too much WEIRDNESS in the Berg story.

Even the slightest scrutiny of this story causes about a BILLION questions to be asked.

Who WAS this guy, really?
Under what circumstances was he held initially, and by WHO? Iraqi police held him, for days or more, and the FBI/Coalition knew about this, but didn't take custody? We are supposed to believe this?
Who are the masked men in the video?

My working assumption is still that this tape shows what it is purported to show, just that this guy took a bizarre path to finally being abducted by some Muslim terrorists and executed. But it wouldn't take much to move me off that position.


I have a very strong hunch there's a good chance the wingnuts will be backing away from this story very soon.

3. I agree. It's too bizarre and the more you read, the more you wonder.

Totally on the quiet. No tapes sent to the media, if he was being held for some kind of prisoner swap. Of course BushCo media coverage is suspect and goes without saying, but we had Mississippi truck driver guy for weeks. Maybe it was a different publicist.

On the other hand, MS guy's family didn't sue Rumsfeld.

Does anyone but me find it odd that Nick Berg's father lists his occupation as a "teacher" working for his son's company?
