Bush wants another $25 billion. Tell Congress to say NO.
The arrogance of Bush is limitless.

He is asking Congress for $25 billion to spend on Iraq and Afghanistan, based on an outline about three pages long.

No company would give a partner $25 billion based on a three page outline; Congress shouldn't treat OUR money as any less precious.

U.S. taxpayers have already paid $157 billion for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, on top of ordinary military spending.

Bush still hasn't explained which appropriation was the $700 million for Afghanistan he diverted to Iraq.

Until he does, he shouldn't get a dime.

4. Let's Corner Repugnican Moderates...
Look at what these scum tried on Kerry today...disengenuously toyed with the unemployed by coming within ONE vote of passing extended benefits, but guess whose vote messed things up. Dirty tricks playing with the lives of millions of Americans. Shameful.

Democrats should force the hands of the moderate Repugnicans...force those in districts where the war isn't popular (and the list is growing) to have to go on record to give to the continuation of this sham. How to do this? Abstain. Yep, it's not that we're not supporting the troops, we're just deferring to the party in power as to advise on which way to go on this issue (evil grin).

6. Not to mention it's not enough
Another $25 billion won't even get us through the next 12 months, but it will get us through NOVEMBER, and at the same time he's asking to continue tax cuts for the rich and for businesses.

10. Now it's 50 billion...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4970228/

The Bush administration’s next request for financing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will push next year’s total beyond $50 billion, a top Pentagon official told Congress on Thursday.

The remark by Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz put a partial price tag on operations in both countries for the budget year that begins next Oct. 1. The administration has long insisted it will not be able to accurately estimate those costs for many months because of uncertainties over conditions in Iraq and possible contributions by allies.

13. Doesn't matter who they are, call them now!
Bush wants another $25 billion?

I just called my senators (repukes) and said they need to tell bush HELL NO!

There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY and they won't say what they're doing with this money! We've already given them OVER $157 billion and look what we've got for that!!!!

On top of that they won't account for the $700 million that was supposed to go to Afghanistan.

The people's treasury's ATM is OUT OF ORDER!

No more money for their failures!

(this is pretty much word for word what I told my senators' staffers)

Sure, I'm with you IF they give Congress oversight of how it's spent.

But just like last time, they're NOT.

Con artists, the lot of them.

17. I agree
Any more money has to have 2 conditions - 1) the tax cuts have to be rolled back and 2) an accounting for the money already allocated for both Afghanastan and Iraq.

However, this is going to be a very difficult one to say no to. Any Democrat up for reelection this year who votes no is going to hammered for not "supporting the troops."

18. There should at least be GAO oversight and anti-profiteering.
There should at least be GAO oversight and anti-profiteering laws attached to the appropriation.

Don't just hand the Bush Administration $25 billion and assume it will get to the soldiers and not be consumed by Halliburton.

I'm ambivalent about what Kerry should do.

If he thinks he needs to vote Yes on awful bills for the next five months, to avoid having his vote distorted, then whatever.

I'd still like for the other 99 Senators to vote against any appropriations without General Accounting Office oversight.

I saw the session, the Democrats want this time exact numbers where the money goes to, before they decide to say yes!

There where very strong statements, the one from Sen. Byrd, holding "The Constitution" in his hands, was so strong and touching to most of the people in the room.
It should be shown again and again!

23. Good. It's ridiculous to approve billions based on a 3 page outline.

There should be thousands of pages detailing $25 billion before Congress votes yes.

And criminal laws against profiteering.

And GAO oversight.
