ALERT! Tinfoil Hat Theory: Why Arnie is running.
Obviously he's been planning this for a while.

There's an excellent analysis over at Buzzflash as to the extent of the White House's fingerprints being all over this. I believe it. But that's not my "conspiracy theory."

Thusly, it leaves me wondering WHY? We know the recall's about getting a Repub Gov. in office in order to make California easier to steal, or make the 2004 Election at least close ENOUGH to steal our precious Electoral votes. We know it has nothing to do with Gray Davis being crummy, really.

I'm wondering: does ARNOLD KNOW SOMETHING WE DON'T?

Or more correctly,

DOES KARL ROVE HAVE SOMETHING UP HIS SLEEVE?

ROVE & CO, the Bush Cabal, these people have been masterful at pulling stuff off when you didnt' see it coming. Every goddamned time in W Bush's charmed political and business life, something always comes along that other people didnt' see or possibly guess at, which completely reverses Georgies' fortunes, literally and figuratively. Rove is so smart, so shrewd, yet he picked ARNOLD, with all his negatives. WHY?

I mean, look at his whopping zipper problem, his shady biz deals, his not being "conservative enough" for the Right, his goofy GERMAN accent, etc. He's got liberals on the left bashing him, and Cons on the right like Rush Limbaugh bashing him too. Remember last year when he seemed to be testing that trial wind sock, only to have it taken down as Salon, Premiere, and other publications poured forth with several salient stories about Arnold the Groper?

Suddenly, Arnold withdrew his sock, and everyone said that that killed any potential for his campaign.

And now he's back. And already being bashed by both sides. He can't possibly win, right? So why now? What is DIFFERENT this time?

I think Rove's got something particularly nasty up his sleeve this time that will change Arnold's fortunes dramatically. I mean, he's about to subject himself and Maria to more salient stories about what he calls "getting my helmet polished." This could be humiliating to him, even before he loses. But what if he "knew" the fix was in? I mean, yes, go ahead, fire away, but perhaps Arnold or Rove knows that they've got something down the pike that'll blow all those blowjobs to kingdom cum. Sorry, but Arnold is a very, very, very smart man. I know this for a fact, personally.

Quick! Describe the one word adjectives or images that are conjured up when you think of the movie star that is Arnold Schwarzenegger?

STRONG

BOLD

BIG

ARMED

KICK-ASS

PROTECTIVE

LIKEABLE

I know, that last one may seem outta place, but look at Kindergarten Cop, and other films like T2, where Arnie became warm, humorous, and could laugh at himself. A big strong guy, a FATHER figure.

Sure, it's all IMAGE, but it's worked for him. Look at how some unlikely failed B-movie actor like Reagan became a herculean he-man who could protect us, unlike "wimps" like Carter He's going into this Governor's race with both sides lined up to, as Lee Atwater would say, "strip the bark off of him." He's Rove's choice. They got Issa to step down, either planned all along, or they dangled something else in front of him.

My tinfoil hat theory is this:

ROVE/BUSH/CHENEY ARE GOING TO INSTIGATE SOME MIHOP TERROR ATTACK, BIO ATTACK IN THE US, MAYBE CALIFORNIA, WHEREBY CALIFORNIANS WILL BE CLAMORING FOR A "STRONG" GOVERNOR TO PROTECT US! THEY CAN FINISH THE JOB ENRON STARTED, AND GET A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR TO HAND THEM THE STATE IN 2004.

At a time of a statewide crisis, like a bio attack on L.A., or some other MIHOP incident, we Californians won't stand for a milquetoast who stands for nothing, like Gray Davis, not a woman, for sure, like Arianna, but a "strong leader," and Americans will have that subconscious memory of Arnold's Terminator and Conan roles, the will reassure us that we are being protected when we see our "strong" man, Arnold, as our governor. Look at how Minnesota elected that hulking creep, Ventura.

Look at 9-11. I personally subscribe to the MIHOP Theory, not LIHOP. You're telling me that they entrusted the carrying out of such an attack, the "New Pearl Harbor" as called for by PNAC and Zbigniev's book, upon which the New World Order will be launched, the Great Final Oil Grab, where Trillions upon Trillions of dollars are at stake, upon the abilities of 19 hijackers armed with boxcutters, and who failed flight school training???

Again, look at Bush's Presidency prior to 9-11. It was going nowhere fast. His poll numbers had just dipped down below 50. He was in the low 50's even before he went on his much-criticized "longest ever Presidential vacation." And yet he went anyway. Enron was about to explode. The Stock Market was about to crash. They were only 9 months into his Presidency, and already it was heading towards a "failed Presidency." Yet Bush & Co. knew something we didn't. Something that would come along and not only pull his feet outta the fire, but catapult him into the stratosphere of becoming Winston Churchill and Shane, combined. No one else saw that coming, right?

Arnold is Rove's VERY PUBLIC choice for Governor, and it would be a very PUBIC HUMILIATION for him if Arnold loses. These people simply don't lose. Losing is for losers. Has Bush really "lost" any real fight he's had while in office? Therefore, the fix is in somehow. Maybe it'll be something not so devastating, like via corrupted voting machines, or some horrific dirt they've got to unveil about Arianna.

Look at the Florida 2002 Election. They fixed that fucker literally Six Ways From Sunday. They disenfranchised black voters, they had Republican operatives go into election offices and "correct" only Republican absentee ballots that were missing either the full name or voter registration #, the butterfly ballot in Palm Beach, they positioned Bush's First Cousin, JOHN ELLIS, as the FOX News election anchorman that night who, with no proof, simply called the state, and thus the Election for W. They then had the Supreme Court, ready and waiting, to stop the whole legal recount, if they needed them to. They didn't rely on just one thing!

They want California's Electoral votes BAD! They'll figure out a way to get Arnold in as Governor, and after 9-11, I don't put anything past these bastards. They simply won't allow something as inconvenient as an honest eleciton to hold up their Master Plan. Has any "honest election" been allowed to stymie their agenda in the past?

2002?

2000?

1980's October Surprise?

Look at Bush's track record, and look at the way they've used Hollywood techniques like "Saving Private Lynch, " or the phony Todd Beamer "Let's Roll" story to manipulate the public.

My gut says they'll come up with something else that will have us not only voting for Arnold, but DEMANDING this big strong guy get into office to save our asses from some sorta EVIL!!!

Too tinfoil hat? Thoughts?

Captain Mike
(or okay, maybe it's just Arnold's fucking EGO, and he can't help himself!)

1. Molly Ivins says...
Molly Ivins came to speak at our town last week. Someone in the audience asked her what she thought of the California recall. Her response was really surprising. She thinks that Karl Rove never wanted a recall -- that the GOP would have far preferred Gray Davis to remain in power because he would be a great target for Bush to campaign against in '04. They wanted to use Davis as a scapegoat for everything that's gone wrong in California. To have a Republican in office while the economy's bad there shifts the blame to someone else.

Molly said, "Rove didn't want this recall. He's probably pissed at Issa for initiating it. California is one of those situations that got away from Rove."

6. ...so then, Rove wouldn't mind...
...making a Sch. candidacy happen just to screw Issa out of his $2mil perhaps??

What kinda worries me is that Arnold doesn't really have the connections, the infrastructure in place to have 'his people' govern the state. It's easy to imagine the power hungry to provide a nice package for him to put in place upon inauguration... for all his vaunted moderate leanings, the worst possible people could be running the state behind the scenes. Who are those people gonna be? Will Californians find out before election day?

12. Shifting the blame is what these guys are good at
Davis will be used as the scapegoat even when he's living in a nursing home decades from now.

BTW - I don't think anything is tinfoil hat time anymore. After what has happened the past two years to change the fundamental nature of this country's beliefs and system of government, nothing is without question. The ones not wearing their tinfoil hats are the ones who have, at least in part, been unable to believe the lengths this administration will go to in order to implement their long-term objectives. I long ago stopped saying "I can't believe this crap," and started saying "damn, they did it again."

He isn't a genius mastermind.

He can manipulate people, but, oddly, doesn't understand them at all.

34. I disagree
I don't believe there would be a recall without approval from the Rep. hierarchy.

I think they're going with Arnold because it's a safe play. Given what they've gotten away with so far, they have to assume the American public is pretty stupid and just might vote him in on popularity alone.

If Arnold wins they can impliment whatever plans they have for Cal.- voting machines, surpression of Enron investigation, etc.

If Arnold doesn't win, it's no reflection on the party, he's a joke-it doesn't count.

40. I think Arnold is a distraction - Bill Simon is the perfect GOP candidate
Check out his background http://billsimon.org/background.asp - when the GOP lost California to Davis they were PISSED. They have plans for us here and Bill Simon was the man to carry them out.

This is simply another attempt at getting him in through the back door. Remember he only lost by a few percentage points. He's BFEE all the way (Arnold might stand against them), born and bred.

The whole thing is a play extremely similar to the one they did on Clinton - as far as they're concerned, the "wrong" man won, they will get him out by any means possible and install the "right" man for the job.

What was the purpose and substance of the May 11, 2001 meeting with then-Mayor Richard Riordan, former junk bond king Michael Milken, and Arnold Schwarzenegger? Lawmakers should obtain the materials Ken Lay provided at that meeting.

N. Korea next to hear U.S. war drum

This may be a case of Rove turning a sow's ear into a silk purse.

My take based on adding 2 + 2 and finding out it equals war is has follows:

The whole recall issue and media cirus that has risen up around it, is the perfect summertime distraction for the masses. In the meantime, down in Crawford, the Bu$h machine is developing their next product for roll out for the end of Sept.

Expect the US to fake the launch of a long range missile aimed at California or Alaska from NK. Heck, they don't even need to hit a target, just launching the darn thing, will be all they need for their excuse to launch an immediate and massive retalitory attack against NK. Expect the result to make 9-11 look like a car bombing.

Any election within two weeks of such an event, could assure a huge win for the Terminator, heck they could even get Mike Tyson elected to public office after that.

14. As to smart
I don't think managing your career as an actor and owning some restaurant chains and whatever else he started equates to running a state in dire straits.

It's funny to me that there have been mostly repub governors there for awhile and disastrous meddling by repub energy thieves and they are going to bring in a mostly repub candidate to clean it up. I don't think 'they' want it cleaned up.

CA is being punished for its gays and liberals and the way it has voted for presidents.

Ahhnold may be getting ready to finish it off. They want poor, gullible, obedient, non-heros taking orders and unable to fight.

I shake my head whenever someone says he's smart. It takes a serious student of government and someone with experience to govern, not a movie mogul. But they programmed Reagan and Bush, so they can do it again.

ESPECIALLY when it's in dire straits--that's why I find Arnold so mystifying. The theoretical point of this recall is that Davis is doing a dangerously terrible job. So why in the world does the GOP expect CA voters to even CONSIDER someone with no political experience at all? Do they want someone who can actually fix CA's problems--or keep the seat warm for what is nothing less than a coup?

49. It's happened before
Let's face it, you've had an ex-actor for President not that long ago.
At least Arnie wouldn't be senile when taking the oath of office.

From this viewpoint (an ocean away), I don't get the impression that
most American voters actually care about the candidates' experience
or suitability for the job. If that is as true as it appears, Arnie
has probably got more chance than the others as he has a head start
in the "WTF does he look like" stakes. Add that to the tough man
image (as stated by others in this thread), the change in party and
the majority ignorance of underlying issues. The result is that,
like it or not, your people in CA are going to have to work hard
or lose. Don't gamble on "smart people don't vote for actors".

17. Arnold intended to run in '06
I think he figured out that this recall offers him the opportunity
to get in early, without spending as much time and money, and
with fewer votes. It's actually smart. He also may be able to
dance around his past and the actual issues. Nevermind that next
year's budget is in place, money has been borrowed and essentially
any recall governor would be a lame duck for two years, but
Arnold hopes that if he gets in he'll stay in '06

Some voters just don't want to think about hard policy
choices that have to be made and will vote just to feel
good.

Just my theory.

Mainstream media is the conspiracy.

I have to agree with Captain Midnight. I have thought the same things because if you know enough about AS, you wonder how they're gonna pull this off. AS is smart and ruthless enough to go along with the plan.

If you've read anything about how he became Mr. Universe, you will understand what I'm saying. Also, AS didn't even go to his father's funeral. This is someone who doesn't give a damn for anything except himself and his enormous ego.

The longterm plan for Rove is to get a lackey in CA governor's office and then redistrict the entire state and appoint ultra conservative judges.

BTW, if anyone is still not convinced that Arianna is in place to help Arnold, take a look at this pic which is on the front page of the NYTimes paper edition this morning - maybe that will convince you.

What's to stop them?

We can't put anything past them, for sure. After pulling off 9-11, anything else they might do would be like flicking a booger off their finger.

I don't live my life in fear of them, or of anything, really, but I really wonder what else they're gonna come up with, as the media, the Dems, you name it, they just keep letting them do it.

Connect the dots!

All Americans have to do is spend an hour skimming all the info is out there. It's so obvious they were behind 9-11, not based on any Conspiracy Theory, but rather, on the available evidence in mainstream publications.

And yet Bush remains unscathed, gets a free pass. It's Americans vaunting dunderheadedness that makes me wanna believe that crap about "chemtrails," and how the military's been using them to put chemicals into the atmosphere to "dumb down" Americans, and to discourage critical thinking. I kid you not. I think that theory is absolute crap, but when I see Americans continue to sit on their hands, I really gotta wonder,

32. California's lawsuit vs Enron is entering the discovery phase..
.. and some insiders are saying that is why it's so critical for the administration to disrupt or remove Davis from office. You can be sure that the suit will be dropped or back-pedaled if a republican is elected, no matter how moderate the platform may seem. You can take off that tinfoil hat now...

38. i'm inclined in this direction myself.
i have no idea why arnold, but i think the ultimate plan is to stonewall the enron investigation. that is the really big show. i think they want to get a puppet in control who will shut down the records availability, and slow down the investigation in any number of ways.

33. Its no secret
If you want to know what the Conservatives are about
you simply have to re-read George Orwell's Animal Farm
or his book, 1984.

When the Conservative Supreme Court equated money with
speach. They shut 98% of the common men & women out. The
have no voice in the election process.

35. Captain Mike, terrific post...
I have calculated that Dictator Bush's next act of terrorism will be a West Coast shipping port, via the Carlyle-owned CSX transport. Your 'Tinfoil Hat' theory makes a lot of sense to me.

36. Bump and
Grind!! Especially so everyone can see Arianna standing next to AS!!

I realize Skolnick should be taken with a grain of salt, but interestingly enough, in his latest out today, he concurs in essense with Captain America's assessment, namely, the bushistas will CREATE a situation to install a repuke gov.

http://www.rense.com/general40/skol38.htm

BTW and just for conversation sake, this is the second time Skolnick has stated that the "football" has been taken away from the Chimp. He also has stated that during Watergate, the "football" was taken away from Nixon by Haig.

Does anyone know if this is true or not? I have not read all the books on Watergate, but have never heard this. I know during the fiasco after Reagan was shot, Haig also took control and had the "football" brought from the hospital to the "Crisis Room" at the WH where he was running things.

41. Yikes! CSX is the second-largest carrier to Hawai'i
I have calculated that Dictator Bush's next act of terrorism will be a West Coast shipping port, via the Carlyle-owned CSX transport.

So even if there is no terra-lert, we're still stuck with Carlyle controlling about 25% of our "imports" (from the mainland, that is :-) ), now that CSX has vacuumed up Sea-Land. (I believe they are now using the name "Horizon" at least for their Hawai'i/Guam service.)

And if there is one, well, why not here? Most of the containers used to ship us our toilet paper, Spam, etc. come back empty... :scared:

39. It's depressing to think of like this - but I'm afraid you're right
"Look at the Florida 2002 Election. They fixed that fucker literally Six Ways From Sunday."

And with Kathleen Harris and various other Floridian Republican Party appointees they were able to subvert the process.

Screwing up the voting process in CA may be just what they need to keep Bush in.

(Plus it doesn't hurt to hide the Enron mess.)

ANALYSIS: ADMINISTRATION PARALYSED OVER IRAN

By Jim Lobe

WASHINGTON, Aug 7 (IPS) - Does the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush still consider al-Qaeda and its associates the main target in its almost three-year-old ''war on terrorism'', or has its military victory in Iraq whetted its appetite for bigger game?

That is effectively the question that the powers-that-be in Iran appear to be posing to Washington at a critical moment in the war's evolution.

The administration appears deadlocked over an answer.

According to a series of leaks by U.S. officials, Iran has offered to hand over, if not directly to Washington then to friendly allies, three senior al-Qaeda leaders and might provide another three top terrorist suspects that Washington believes are being held by Teheran.

But its price -- for the U.S. military to permanently shut down the operations of an Iraq-based Iranian rebel group that is on the State Department's official terrorism list -- might be too high for some hard-liners, centred in the Pentagon and Vice President Dick Cheney's office, who led the charge for war in Iraq.

Members of this group see the rebels, the Mujahedin el Khalq (MEK), or People's Mujahedin, as potentially helpful to their ambitions to achieve ''regime change'' in Iran, charter member of Bush's ''axis of evil'' and a nation that is believed to have accelerated its nuclear weapons programme in recent months.

The question of what to do about the reported Iranian offer is one of the issues being discussed this week in successive visits to Bush's Texas ranch by Secretary of State Colin Powell (who returned from there Wednesday night), Cheney, and Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld.

What do you mean by this?

I'm missing the connection, or the potential connection with this and Arnie's run, and what the BFEE might do to enable it.

Sorry, my mind can't wrap itself everything I come across so easily.
