Howard Stern criticizes Bush during May 6, 2004 radio show
Edited on Sun May-09-04 01:18 AM by Eric J in MN
Howard Stern recently criticized George W. Bush for his handling of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, for encouraging censorship in the US, for his corrupt deal with a mining company, and more.

Howard Stern said he supports John Kerry and praised Kerry for serving in Vietnam.

This discussion was during the May 6, 2004 broadcast of the radio show, ‘The Howard Stern Show.’

I don't know of a single Senator who has spoken out against the "Decency" bill to increase FCC fines (Democrat or Republican).

In the House, Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY) spoke out against it, and a few others, and Dennis Kucinich voted against it, but it still passed by a landslide.

5. So what are its chances of passage?
I hear it's stalled, whatever that means.

If it actually goes to a vote, Senators will be afraid to vote against "decency."

The question is if word will spread in the Senate not to bring the bill to a vote.

Here is a form for faxing Senators:

2. I started liking Howard more lately...
What was the guy doing that was soo bad? I all started when a black woman exposed her breasts briefly. So Howard made a few "vulgar" sex jokes. And the Repugs are up in arms, but when the torture photos come back from Iraq. Ohhhh well that's no big deal its just "frat pranks". The hypocrisy infuriates me to nooo end.

I'm not aware of any politicians who trivialized the mistreatment shown in the photos.

Bush is trivializing the number of people involved by saying the "actions of a few" don't represent US "human rights" policy, when violations occurred at multiple prisons, and the orders to humiliate prisoners came from generals on down.

14. Have you heard of Karl Rove?
Who has been giving marching orders to Limbaugh, Hannity, and (place a conseravtive pundit here) to make this thing look like a college frat prank. No they haven't trivialized it in public, but their actions speak louder than words. Ohh yea Rumsfeld "regrets" the photos got out. Was there any concern for the humane treatment of the Iraqi's from the beginning? After all these people are "pro-life".

8. Infinity's Making A Statement
Give a lot of credit to a man I never thought I'd admire...Mel Karmazin.

He's behind Stern 100% and is fighting this incidious bill from the inside...and the man has lots of clout. Mel's a man to watch behind the scenes here in coming months as he holds the keys to a media empire that could be a valuable ally.

Remember, it's CBS that's been catching a lot of this regime's shit...Raygun Movie, Janet Jackson, 60 Minutes slam on Clarke book, fines on Stern and so on. Also, Mel's biggest adversary is Cheap Channel...and he's not too happy with how they stirred up the Stern fiasco. Mel's crazy like a fox and I'm certain, Howard, whose very loyal to the man (as is Imus) is more than happy to use his major morning forum to take shots at people they both feel are hurting their personal interests and those of a majority of Americans.

It'll be interesting if this regime dares to take on Stern directly...sending the blonde pitbulls after him like they have others...or finding some dirt on Howard (and we all know there's gotta be a bunch of it) to destroy his credibility. But it ain't gonna work. People have heard the Coultergeist routine one time too many, Stern's message is very fresh and resonating these days.

Cheers!

9. From the audio clip of Stern....
Howard, discussing Bush effectively donating hundreds of acres of national land to a foreign mining company...

(6:00 mark)

Howard:

There ya go. That's your President. And people are saying that they're still gonna vote for him. I don't get it. And I could tell ya 20 other things that the guy's up to with the environment that'd scare the bejeezus outta ya.

I mean.. this is.. this is it.. black and white! There's no.. sorta.. spin on this thing.

Robin:

But if you're gonna poison us, at least get top dollar...!

Caller:

We gotta vote 'im out, Howard.

Howard:

    We do.

(6:27 mark)

Absolutely wonderful. Sounds as good as Air America Radio. How often does Howard go into these anti-Bush rants?

10. Most of the show isn't political.
Most of the show isn't political.

Howard Stern and Robin Quivers do the news at the end of each show, so there is a little politics there.

By the way, are you sure they said it was a foreign mining company and not an American company?

Speaking of getting people out to vote in Pittsburg where one of the six stations is where Clear Channel dropped Howard.

Caller: I tell you I've worked in Pittsburg. You've got an army there, this show is bigger than the Steelers in Pittsburg.

Howard: Well I'm - don't think I'm sitting idly by - I'm coming up with a plan - that uh - you see I've just got to get the word to people in Pittsburg, not to vote for Bush.

Wow. Stern is really standing up here. It's amazing.

13. I have to hand it to him...
...he's reaching an audience we couldn't TOUCH a year ago. Guys I know listen to him religiously here in Saint Louis. And although they were somewhat aghast at some of the things Bush was doing, not a one of them was really motivated to action until Stern was first attacked, and retaliated. Now I know a slew of them that have actually contributed to Kerry. I hope he keeps at it.
