The Estimable Josh Marshall: Chalabi's been a bad, bad boy.
"Then there's the matter of the bombing of the Jordanian Embassy in Baghdad on August 7th, 2003. I'm told that the Jordanians have phone intercept intelligence, which they shared with the US government, showing that Chalabi had advance warning of the bombing, which he chose not to share with the Jordanians or the Americans."

Something tells me that with all the stuff coming in, over Josh's transom right now, under that transom might well be one of the most dangerous and most interesting places in The Nation's Capitol. You could get crushed, but you wouldn't die bored.

2. Under the transom?
That is where the flood of "on background" information is landing. A person could get hurt, considering the likely volume of things landing there. ;-)

3. Just finished reading Josh's article showing Chalabi has even more
tentacles than we thought. The story gets stranger and strange. He's like a new Henry Kissinger. All powerful, behind the scenes and wired into the current "regime." This Iranian business is most confusing, in that why is this the first we've heard of it? None of our DU investigators caught this one. I might have missed it if they did, though. There's so much going on lately.

4. Considering the historic enmity...
Between the Babylonians and the Persians, wouldn't this tend to weaken Chalabi in Iraq, once it becomes more widely known?

5. There's the oddity in the story. Why would Persians want anything to do

with Chalabi? Josh said he would have more about it later. Chalabi seems to be a "broker or trader." (at least that's my read of this shadowy guy) He goes everywhere promising who knows what all, but I assume he's using his influence with the PNAC'ers to show that he can be a "deal maker" in Iran. Look at his connections with Jordan where he was charged with embezzlement. He may be respected because of his influence more than his "tribe." After all, a man who can bring the United States into war on the flimsiest of excuses has alot of power!

6. I wonder if the mainstream press if gonna pick up on this...
....

Of course, we still fund Chalabi to the tune of some $340,000 a month. So don't think your tax dollars aren't being well-spent. And that does not include the various highly-lucrative contracts doled out to his family members, political associates and cronies."

We are paying this GUY !?! What a scary joke!
