Thomas Hamill was freed because siege ended--did not escape.
I do not know this, but there is a pattern to US war propaganda. It was the same when US forces "rescued" Jessica Lynch, only for the true story to emerge later.

Thomas Hamill was held prisoner. His captors specifically stated that he would not be freed until the siege of Falluja ended. For the time being, US forces have retreated from their positions, and the people of Falluja--whether or not with cause--or celebrating a victory over US forces.

It does make sense that the Iraqis holding Hamill have freed him under these circumstances. It certainly does not make sense that they would have allowed conditions to exist conducive to his escaping unharmed--unless they had made a strategic decision to do so, and again because they decided he was to be freed soon.

This story of "escape" is concocted by military information specialists who are attempting to resurrect a sense of heroism that has been punctured by setbacks and the grisly scenes of torture against Iraqis, the most gruesome of which have not yet been released and may never be.

We should keep in mind the case of Jessica Lynch--and every other lie surrounding this invasion and occupation--when assessing the case of Thomas Hamill.

1. Oh yes excellent point! You are on the ball! We should all be reminded
not to take what anyone connected to Iraq right now says about anything.

2. This is the 3rd thread today with that theory. I agree.
Nothing happens by accident with these GodAwfuls. And the "escape" did take the torture story out of the "top story" spot on the morning shows.

3. I would guess ransom was paid
If he did not escape- part of ransom payment is conceal that deal was made.

5. Good things those Iraqis weren't Americans.
They would have raped him, electrocuted him, then beaten him to death.

6. Yeah, I'm with ya.
Was thinking along the same lines. They just want another Jessica Lynch.

They're also trying the guy who jumped on the grenade story. Feeling 'em out with the public, seeing who they can deify.

7. I was expecting that his "rescue" would not be announced until
about a week before the November elections. You know, about the same time Saddam goes on trial and when they announce they found the WMD's and they also have Osama in custody in an "undisclosed" location.

9. I agree it's smells just like the Lynch story
Even worse, because I thought I just heard on news radio that he had taken 2 of his captors into custody when he escaped???

10. I don't give a shit if he was freed, escaped, or was rescued.
I'm glad he's alive and on his way home. I'm sure his family is, too.
