What will *'s life be like after he leaves the WH?
I really can't see this guy raking up the bucks via speaking engagements.

I really can't see the GOP honor him as an "elder statesman".

I really can't see anyone in his or her right mind employing him in a think tank.

I really can't see the GOP use him to campaign for Republicans in office.

I really can't see him making goodwill trips overseas.

What's the idiot going to do?

1. Live off his investments
and trust me, he will be hired for speaking engagments for the same reason Poppy was, to exploit connections. He won't be on food stamps you can count on that.

He sure has earned that! Then simply play or pray in Kennibunkport.

You do realize he's not keeping the "ranch" in Tx.

11. Wish I could find the quote, but
I read it on another DU posting several times. Laura has already said she doesn't want to live there permanently, she prefers the city. George is living up to his "created image" of a Texas Cowboy, but doesn't really like that life style.

Maybe the poster who cited this source will repost it here.

7. Oh, He'll Love It
He always said - and I actually BELIEVE this ONE thing - that if he had not succeeded in stealing the office, he would have been happy back in his gated community of robber barons. Now, it will be even sweeter, since he will rake in millions or billions just by showing up at robber baron confabs, and even smoke and drink in the closed lounges. Popping pills and watching football with LIMBOsevic.

b) backslapping with captains of industry who will give him symbolic positions on their company boards (but will give him no business decision making responsibilities
c) pose for statues erected to him by the looniest members of the religious right who perceive him as some kind of God selected saint
d) be relieved at his inability and unwillingness to read - as it will save him from learning about all the awful new bush bashing books from insiders that will be written
e) deteriorate physically even faster than Poppy (have you seen any pics of GHWB from the past year - he looks ghastly)

f) all of the above

12. He's not doing anything now... what's gonna change?
Instead of vacationing 40% of the time, it will be more like 80%.

I doubt he'll experience poverty or anything close to it. He may get a few invites for speaking engagements (with a well-prepared script, of course). It's a virtual certainty that he'll be on a few corporations' boards of directors.

Some bunch of Yahoos, with more money than brains, will want to put his face on Rushmore and on our currency. He will be promoted as the the "War President" and the Republicans will insist he be in the same caliber as Roosevelt and Truman.

And...Laura will write the books and give the speeches ..like Nancy...while W rides the grass mower at home on the range.

21. He'll have no shortage of appoitnments
...and offers of jobs in which no work is ever expected of him, but for which he will draw a handsome paycheck.

That "ranch" in Crawford will probably be turned over to his daughters, since the rural life has never been for him. Of perhaps he'll offer it to the taxpayers of Texas at triple what it cost him, just to house a dog-eared copy of The Hungry Caterpillar, the one book in his presidential library.

His only speaking circuit will be the fundy circuit. His incoherence will pass easily for speaking in tongues.

start a landscaping business, but after 6 month it will be bankrupt. Then he will try his hand at writing, but his children's book does poorly in sales. Most critics blame it on the title "Jesus,Daddy,WMD's, and Me". After several failed business ventures - fishing lure designer, viagra salesman, motivational speaker, gay porn actor, human shield, and business ethics consultant, just to name few - Shrubs finds his calling by being the guest referee for all WWF cage matches. In fact at one event Baby George was over heard saying "I belong here, them peoples love me, now that's Uh-marry-kuh!"
