Oh my God ! He's a "Flip-Flopper" !
Just think of how terrible that really is? It's worse than being a liar. It's worse than being a lying chickenhawk. It's worse than being a chickenshit, lying chickenhawk. It's worse than being a coke-snorting, chickenshit, lying chickenhawk.

"Flip-flop" means you change your position or your opinion. What is the opposite of "flip -flop"? Someone that is so set in their ways that they cannot change in the face of a changing reality? Someone that is consistent just for consistency sake? Which is worse?

Obviously, to hear the talking heads on cable TV and the RNC spokesmen, (Are they the same?) one might think there is no sin worse than being a "flip-flopper"...I mean, he may as well be a practicing heterosexual.....

2. Besides, how many times has Chimp changes his position?
On Iraq and the 9/11 commission alone, there must be a dozen examples.

This "flip-flop" thing AND the "steady leadership" lie need to be put down ASAP!

3. There is a clear definition for those who refuse to change
their positions in the face of changing circumstance:

INSANE

For example, Bush was set on the idea of a post-Cold War soft conflict with Russia and China. Dead set on the idea that the chief threat to America came from ICBM's. Hence the bizarre focus on China and russia in the early months of his administration. He refused to adjust to the changed context, and so two buildings came down in NYC and thousands of people died.

INSANE

Flip-flop? hell, I flip-flop all the time. Most sane people do. I believe one thing, then, slowly, it shows itself not to square with events, or it becomes no longer functional as events change. I then flip-flop to account for the changed circumstances. FEEDBACK-fucking-LOOP. Recursive adaptation. In evolution, there is a term for those species that are unable to "flip-flop":

EXTINCT

Principle, they say. Principle is well and good as a general guide for action. Principle becomes dogma when it becomes a guide regardless of circumstances. Circumstances drive the deployment of principles, not the other way around. Right wingers hate to hear this, primarily since the circumstances of the 21st century show their principles to be lacking and non-funtional. They pretend that to change your principles negates the function of principles tout court. Hell, plenty of moderates nd lefties are of the same opinion. needless to say, almost none run their lives this way, for it would be impossible.

Bush is like a car that can only move in one direction.
Bush is like a football coach who only runs one play.

INSANE

5. Correct! A Wise Man Once Said
something like, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, even when it's proven not to work...Consistent, yes, but also stupid and insane.

4. I'd like to see the term "Bold Leadership" quashed too...
There have been a lot of "bold" leaders in this world. A lot of them have been really bad leaders to boot. One could argue that Hitler, Stalin and Mao were bold leaders. It sure as hell doesn't make them good leaders.

Anyone who is too stupid to change his/her mind in the face of changing realities is a poor leader. For example, insisting on sinking billions of dollars into a missile defense system while Al Queda plans to destroy the World Trade Center...you know...stuff like that.

7. take a look at this article (gag alert)
Bush is strong, confident & unwavering? I can feel a LTTE coming on... remember, the Courant is a Tribune subsidiary.

Picture Of Certainty
President Bush Draws Praise For Image Of Leadership: Confident, Unwavering, Single-Minded

April 26, 2004
By LIZ HALLORAN, Courant Staff Writer

Macy Reid sees it in President George W. Bush's penetrating stare - a look that seems to dare people not to see the world through his eyes.

It's a look so determined, said Reid, a Glastonbury management coach and trainer, that it can make people "want to hitchhike on his certainty."

9. it shows how little they have
they have nothing positive to say about their own candidate, they have to go to the meaningless stuff like "flip flopping."

I'm just waiting for them to start talking about Kerry's "missed votes." :eyes:
