4. I Didn't Go Anywhere First...
I checked for any updates with Norton AV, and then logged on. I shut all browsers down, checked for current updates of AdAware (none\current), ran AdAware and got just 4 seemingly insignificant cookies. Ones I've seen before, and wasn't (until now) worried about!

3. I think they are sending viruses through security holes.
I had a suite of viruses that included:
about:blank homepage hijacker
an keystroke logger

I tried every available program: CWSShredder, Hijack this, Ad-aware, AVG antivirus - none of them got rid of it. It always came back.

I finally reformatted the drive and started over.

7. I got one for the "Rummy's War" book!
the server was mercuras.com. I use ads-gone, and Zone-alarm, and it still managed to get through.

8. It could be belgiandip.com doing this
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 08:56 PM by Norbert
I'm no expert but I had belgiandip malware placed in my pc and it was giving me annoying popups like this at work. What does the properties of the window say?

I ran a custom setting on Adaware6.0 like what is in the link below. It worked for me since everything for me was as the first poster described.

If you are not sure bend an ear with the prople at the Lavasoft boards. They know their stuff.

9. i got the same popup ...
my machine is having a real virus problem right now ...

ad aware is unable to delete a couple of key files and i haven't been able to delete them manually ...

still working on cleaning up this virus ...

btw, don't respond in any way to anything that pops up ... you'll just add yourself to more lists which means more abuse ...

we don't just need better laws against spam and popups, we need better laws and better enforcement of companies that write this junk and also companies that benefit from it ...

12. Kodak...did their company develop Daisy Cutter bombs?
I worked with an engineer who said he quit Kodak because they were involved in that development. He was a former priest.
