Missing the truly trembling point: Bush's (religious) duty to free world
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 04:01 PM by Generator
The media haven't dared touch the truly terrifying part of the Woodward book:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/15/60minutes/main612067.shtml

snip~
Did Mr. Bush ask his father for any advice? “I asked the president about this. And President Bush said, ‘Well, no,’ and then he got defensive about it,” says Woodward. “Then he said something that really struck me. He said of his father, ‘He is the wrong father to appeal to for advice. The wrong father to go to, to appeal to in terms of strength.’ And then he said, ‘There's a higher Father that I appeal to.’"

snip~
But who gave President Bush the duty to free people around the world? “That's a really good question. The Constitution doesn't say that's part of the commander in chief's duties,” says Woodward. “That’s his stated purpose. It is far-reaching, and ambitious, and I think will cause many people to tremble.”

*******
We have a religious zealot for a President who feels it's his duty and his alone apparently "to free" the world. And he doesn't ask for advice from anyone, but the higher father, God. Is he planning Armaggedon or what? For anyone with any fear of those who think they have a pipeline to God having too much power this is a call to get this man out!

2. "We are changing the world!"
Our sElected leader declares.

In contrast to his "No nation-building" campaign speech! Now he's flip-flopped to world-building!

6. I agree this is the most terrifying part of the interview.
I was watching and getting dinner ready so I couldn't really focus on it. I heard him say * said "we will all be dead" about how history will view this. I was taping it and when I watched it again I took it as not just * but maybe everyone, more on the Armageddon thing.

The idea that he is running things based on a religious vision and not based on the constitution. I came away feeling he could be capable of anything because logic and reality don't enter into the mix. (I know we already know this b/c of Iraq but it is still spooky)

7. I find these quotes chilling.
It is amazing that this fellow is convinced he is actually in tune with the universal force. After the "Bush at War" book, I had not expected anything serious from Woodward. However, from the few things I've heard, the book continues to add to the foundation of information that should result in an impeachment. I'm struck by the fact that the symptoms Bush shows (religious grandiosity) and behaviors (poses threat to others) would result in an immediate psychiatric hospitalization for most people.

8. Doesn't ask for advice from those around him? That's OK:
they're as bad as he is.
