Republicans don't hate...?
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 03:23 PM by imax2268
Check this out...I posted the article from Air America about the whole bounced check thing...and a repub got offended by the "crowbar to the head" metaphore...

she says...
My point is that there is a double standard. When Democrats say these things, nothing happens, but if a Republican said this stuff, there'd be helltopay.

What about the Democrats in Florida who wanted to put Rumsfeld against the wall and "pull the trigger" ?

What about Alec Baldwin, who said on the Tonight Show - "If we were in other countries, we would all right now, all of us together -- all of us together would go down to Washington and we would stone Henry Hyde to death! We would stone him to death! Wait! . . . I'm not finished. We would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and we'd kill their wives and their children! We would kill their families!"

What about the billboard in Allentown, PA that had "K*ll Bush" painted on it?

What about the woman (I heard this one) on C-Span who said that Bush should be assassinated instead of Saddam? This has been said by many anti-war, protesters.

What about the website devoted to "K*ll President Bush"?

What about the message boards devoted to the same?

The democrats are not just using metaphors. They are using hate speech. They are threatening the use of violence. Show me where Republicans have ever lowered themselves to this level of hatred?

okay, show me websites that Republicans have set up that want to kill any Democratic President, or any Democratic leader, for that matter. Show me message boards that are set up with that title. Show me where any Republican group has threatened to line a Democrat administration official against the wall and pull the trigger. Show me a transcript from any late night entertainment program that shows a high level actor saying "let's kill their families too."

one poster came back with:

Why would we waste our time on that? Everytime you demand "proof", you are really just asking for us to dip into the sewer looking for more "stuff" that will still amount to nonsense. My point is that the democratic party is not threatening actual violence to the republicans or the republican party. Show me proof that the democratic party is actually supporting violence to the republican party and their families. This "hate speech" platform is one of many republican trends to try to discredit the entire democratic party. If a few goofballs say stupid things either on the radio or talk show circuit, it obviously isn't being taken seriously by law enforcement, or they would be charged with intent to commit violence. You want to discuss your political differences? Then use something a tad more tangible that metaphors.

later on she says:

I pointed out specific instances where Liberals are so angry that they actually speak of killing Republicans, and that that is becoming increasingly more prominent. My original point was not whether they actually WILL kill them, it is that their hatred is so intense, they resort to this tactic, and that Republicans do not do this.

It sounds like you are trying to minimize and/or excuse the behavior by saying, "Well, they don't mean it, they won't actually kill anyone..."

I don't accept that excuse. This is disgusting behavior. Besides, the people saying these things don't expect anyone to make excuses for them - they hate Republicans that much.

It also sounds like you're trying to excuse them with "It's okay because the Republicans do it too..." reasoning. I don't accept that excuse either. I have the same disrespect for a Republican who might say it.

Another point I'm making is that if Republicans did this to Democrats it would be splashed over every major media outlet until that Republican stepped down. There is a double standard with Democrats.

so then a few posts later a sidekick come in and says:

This is NOT about metaphors. This is about threating someone and then saying it is a metaphor to keep their rear ends out of trouble.

Many democrats lately are proving to be a rather angry and violent group of people. One I (and most people I know) would not want to be a part of. Their behavior in instances like these are the very behaviors that are pushing their own people away from thier party.

(name removed) you are right, but it is nothing conservatives don't already know. We are held to a different standard than the libs are. They can say what they want and do what they want and never worry about it. I think the Rebpublicans hold a much higher standard for our party and therefore just deal with the hypocrosies and give the poor dems what they want. They tend to be a needy people, and we will just have to continue to be understanding of this.

and on and on and on...

Basically they were saying that Republicans and Conservative don't spread hate around like liberals/Democrats do...I asked for proof that Dems/libs make threats and have website devoted to threatening BushCo...she says that she doesn't want to get her ISP involved and tells me to google it...heh heh heh...whatever...

Can you guys believe this's so funny I can't even begin to laugh...!

Well, it certainly sounds like her. Since she's so up on threats of murder, and really believes anything she heard about us...just point out that the Repubs actually murdered Paul Wellstone and Mel Carnahan...then tell her that you don't want to get your ISP involved, so she'd have to google it herself.

EDIT: Oh' yeah...250,000 links for "murder Democrats" is a good start...

3. The poster should ask Jamie Gorelick
if there are any republicans using threats of violence.

There was a thread here this morning about the death threats she has received because she won't resign from the 9/11 commission.

Has this poster ever been to FR? I wonder if she has ever read anything on Lucienne!

Let's see.... I guess Jesse Helms wasn't using a threat when he said Bill Clinton better not come to North Carolina.

Isn't it amazing how true the parable is about taking the log out of your own eye before trying to take the sliver out of someone else's.

I thought that threat by the democrats in Florida was way over the top, and I really think they should pay a price for it. It was and is uncalled for to ever threaten anyone's life. And when it is done in that manner, you never know what kind of nut case is going to take you seriously.

The point is, though, as far as I can determine, about the only thing neocons don't hate is the word hate. They throw it around like confetti!

is as hateful as FR. Sometimes I almost think more so, if you can picture that. I don't go there too often, because we had a water shortage in the northeast, and I didn't want to have to shower 3 or 4 times in an evening.
