Mike Malloy on KIRO Radio in Seattle? Why not?
I am starting to give up on the idea of Air America hiring Mike Malloy. I honestly think it is not going to happen which is too bad. I am starting to look increasingly at the idea of Mike Malloy taking over the overnight slot on Seattle's KIRO 710 AM. It sounds like the guy currently doing the overnight show Lou Pate wants to leave Seattle. He hates it here. Keeps saying Seattle is not in the "real world".

I want to start a new drive to get Malloy to move to Seattle and do his a show on the overnight. He would be a perfect fit right after Mike Webb.

What do you think? It should also be streamed via the internet so people will be able to listen elsewhere. It would be great!

1. Too bad lou doesn't like Seattle. Maybe he's just in need of a change
that happens ..maybe its personal.

But I do like the idea of Malloy. Think he'd consider a move like this? He'd be welcome I'm sure. Seattle s is a beautiful place, the Sound, the Cascades, the Olympic Nat'l Forest, British Columbia, mountain streams, pacific coast. Not to mention great food, great music, and really cool people.

Think Malloy would enjoy himself somewhere in the assortment of places to go and things to do?

Do you think he'd do it?

2. I have already sent an email to the KIRO management.
We should all do this. Here is the email address. Let's get a drive going. Malloy should come to Seattle.

Yeah. I agree Lou is probably ready for a change. He just sounds tired of Seattle.

4. Lou's been bitching about Seattle and his time slot
for years... The guy is truly a first-class prick. He calls his callers idiots, screams at them to shut up, and wonders why so few people call him in the middle of the night. When you're overnight, you can't be so hostile to callers -- there aren't gonna be many coming in.

5. I honestly do not think he is long for Seattle.

Lou would not be such a bad guy for a Republican if he would not have such an attitude. At least he is open minded on some issues but still he is clearly not happy here. I would love for KIRO to just let him go and bring in Malloy. Mike Malloy would be perfect for overnight in Seattle. He would be intense but still perfect for the Seattle market. At least Malloy would be preferable to Brian Baloney. I mean Maloney. The right-wing Jackass that is on the weekend.

8. I can't believe Malloy has stuck it out in Georgia for so long
He'd be a much better fit on the Left Coast; hell, KPOJ could flesh out their lineup by grabbing the feed from Seattle, if he made the move.

10. GA to Seattle
I havent listened to Malloy in a long time, but really enjoyed him when he was on the local talk station AM 750 in the late 80s.

On to Seattle, man do I miss it! I went to law school out there and finished up in '98 and my wife and I moved in early '99. Anyhow, while I love the SE, the PNW is truly "God's country" and I miss it! :)

9. I don't mean to be a killjoy
but the chances are extremely good that Mike Malloy will never be hired at KIRO-AM.

Mike was interviewed by them during his time at ieAmerica, as stated in a recent "Salon" article. KIRO's management trends towards the right and is VERY uncomfortable with anyone as brilliant and outspoken as Mike Malloy. Let's face it, Mike Webb (liberal air personality,) has the #1 rated show on the station, and he does the weekday 10 PM - 1 AM shift.

If you still want to bug them, the person to call, write, e-mail, fax and send overnight mail to is Kris Olinger, their program director. I called her shortly after the article in Salon to ask exactly why they didn't hire Mike Malloy; she told me that it was "none of my business". I informed her that I'm a listener, their advertisers certainly care what I and others think of their programming, and I'll be patiently waiting for their FCC comment period (they have one every several years in order to keep their broadcast license.)

It's IMHO, but the best venue for Mike would be AirAm. Petitions aren't working. Are there any evilDU'ers near the New York City area that could "take a meeting" with AirAm's management group? If we'd really like to get the job done, we can start another thread or a unique e-mail address, ask those who want to hear Mike again to write about how they think he'd add to what's already happening at AAR. The people going to the meeting could hand-carry the printed (hopefully thousands,) of notes and letters to the AAR management group.

What do you all think about this one? New York City DU'ers, what are your thoughts on the matter?
