6. It means that he endorsed the 'wall' between criminal and intellegence
investigations. The same 'wall' that Ashcroft cited as the only reason the FBI and he didn't pursue a FISA warrant against Moussouai. He blamed Gorelick and Reno and Clinton indirectly for the 'wall'. And HE endorsed it

2. i don't think that was Ashcroft's point...
... the point is that Goerlick is even ON the commission, when she is clearly a part of the problem. My question is: why didn't she say that anything about this memo to the other commission members?

what about that patriot act?

5. Sounds like this was designed to keep the CIA out of domestic
affairs. Not a bad thing, I think. But that doesn't mean CIA can't pass on info to the FBI when suspects enter the US or the FBI handing off to CIA when suspects leave.

But that wasn't the reason Ashcroft made this in his opening remarks...or tried to smear Clinton and the CT budgets. It was to deflect the attention onto the Democrats.

Funny how Bush gets to create the commission and appoint the members, but somehow it's a Democrat who should recuse herself. One who has a knowledge of DOJ workings in the Clinton administration. Fact is, probably the whole commission ought to be recused.
